When your child gives you instructions for the end-of-semester class party.. you deliver.

Apparently, showing up with a packet of biscuits wasn’t going to cut it.

So, the line up was:

✅ Vegemite
✅ Ham & Cheese
✅ Ham & Salad
✅ Chicken & Salad

Three trays of freshly made sandwiches ready to feed a cohort full of hungry kids and the teachers brave enough to survive them for an entire semester.

One of the unexpected perks of owning a takeaway shop is that when the school says “please bring a plate”, you don’t mess around.

When our customers do the marketing for us..

It’s my day off and this little gem popped up in my inbox.

A photo of one of our breakfast pizzas from one who has supported us right from the beginning.

And honestly, moments like this mean more than you’ll ever know.

When we took over Beachmere Takeaway, we had a vision of creating more than just a takeaway shop. We wanted to build a place where people felt welcome, where quality mattered, and where genuine connections could be made.

The food is important.

But it’s the people behind the orders, the regular faces, the chats across the counter, the photos shared online and the support from our community that make this journey so special.

To everyone who has supported us, recommended us, shared a post, told a friend, voted for us, or simply walked through our doors..

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built together and we’re excited for what comes next.

Let’s talk salads..

I know, I know.

You came to a fish and chip shop and the word salad immediately made you scroll a little faster. 😂

But hear us out..

These aren’t the sad little salads that look like they lost a fight with a lawn mower.

These are loaded, fresh and made to order, which means no wilted lettuce, no soggy cucumber and definitely no mystery vegetables that have been sitting around since last Tuesday.

We’ve given our salads a serious upgrade and they are absolutely flying out the door.

We had a little visitor at Beachmere Takeaway today.

Too young to work.
Too young to answer the phone.
Too young to put chips down.

But somehow still Employee of the Month. 🥹

Now, after holding this little cherub for five minutes, my ovaries have officially entered the group chat.

Meanwhile Ryan keeps talking about a third shop..

I’m starting to think a third Hincksman might be a better investment. 😂

Let’s be honest, I’ve already got the tired eyes, random snack cravings and permanent exhaustion down pat.

Meanwhile..
Cod & Chips is $12.00 all day, every Tuesday. 👀

Golden, crispy cod.
Hot chips.
Lemon wedge.
No small print.
No subscription required.
No need to remortgage the house.

In fact, at $12.00, it’s getting dangerously close to being cheaper than making lunch yourself.

When we took over Beachmere Takeaway, one of our goals was simple - provide great quality food, great service and great value to our customers.

Part of that means constantly reviewing our suppliers, products and partnerships to ensure we're delivering the best possible experience every time you visit.

Today, we're excited to announce a new partnership with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners across both Beachmere Takeaway and our upcoming Pumicestone Bites Takeaway store.

This partnership will see us bringing some iconic favourites into our drink fridges, including Coca-Cola, Coke Zero Sugar, Sprite, Fanta, Powerade, Mount Franklin, Pump and Fuze Tea and more.

While most customers simply see a fridge full of drinks, there are months of conversations, planning and negotiations behind the scenes to ensure we're securing the best products, support and value for our stores and our community.

As we continue growing, our focus remains the same as it was on day one:

Okay. Apparently we're drinking purple now.

After surviving feral bean water (Long Black) and what can only be described as liquified lawn clippings (Matcha), Ryan just handed me an Ube drink.

Firstly.. what even is an Ube?

Secondly.. why is it purple?

It tastes like vanilla, sweet potato and someone accidentally dropped a birthday cake into a blender.

I'm not saying it's bad..

I'm just saying if you told me this was melted Barney the Dinosaur I'd have believed you.

Anyway, the internet has once again convinced me to try something that’s trending..

This weekend's Learnings From Facebook University

What started as:

"Good news everyone, the large fillets are back!"

Quickly evolved into what can only be described as an international fisheries conference.

Over the last 24 hours we've learned that our fish is:

✅ Hake
✅ Cod
✅ Shark
✅ Flake
✅ Gemfish
✅ Not Gemfish
✅ Part of the Cod Family
✅ Definitely not part of the Cod Family
✅ A completely different species
✅ The same species
✅ Imported
✅ Not imported
✅ Possibly a Sea Unicorn 🦄🐟

We've had commercial fishermen, former seafood managers, Google screenshots, marine biology experts, fish and chip enthusiasts and at least 3 people who appear ready to challenge each other to a duel over fish taxonomy.

The one thing everyone seems to agree on?

The carton says Hake.

The reality is the seafood industry has debated fish naming for decades and will probably continue debating it long after we're all gone. And 90% of COD you order in Fish n Chip shops around the country will be Hake!

Meanwhile, over here in the takeaway world, we're focused on slightly different things:

- Quality fish
- Crispy chips
- Thick shakes
- Great coffee
- Friendly service

P.S. Tomorrow's topic appears to be whether chicken salt is actually chicken. 🍿
