You never know who you'll meet at Binna Burra...

This native Goanna was recently spotted making its way through the rainforest, reminding us that every walk at Binna Burra offers the chance for a memorable wildlife encounter.

Goannas are one of Australia's largest lizards and play an important role in the rainforest ecosystem. Although they can grow to an impressive size, they're generally shy and will usually keep their distance if left undisturbed.

Whether it's a goanna crossing the track, a Crimson Rosella in the canopy or the unmistakable laugh of a kookaburra, every visit brings something new to discover.

From bare earth to native garden!

A few weeks can make a remarkable difference.

These before and after photos show the transformation taking place around the new lodge, thanks to the hard work of our dedicated Friends of Binna Burra volunteers (FoBBs).

Working with native plants, natural stone and existing landscape features, the FoBBs have helped establish gardens that will continue to grow and blend seamlessly with the surrounding rainforest. In time, they'll provide habitat for local wildlife and a welcoming natural setting for future guests.

A heartfelt thank you to every FoBB who generously gave their time and energy. Your passion and commitment are helping shape the next chapter of Binna Burra. 💚

Need another reason to walk the Daves Creek Circuit?

Its rhyolitic soils support a wonderful variety of wildflowers, and whatever the time of year, something is in bloom.

Right now, the flowers include the stark white Snow Wreath and the brilliant golden Banksias.

Creating something special.

The balcony gardens of the new lodge are beginning to take shape, with native plants and natural stone dry creek beds carefully established to complement the surrounding rainforest and mountain landscape.

A big thank you to our incredible Friends of Binna Burra volunteers (FoBBs), who generously gave their time over the weekend to help establish these gardens. Their efforts are helping create a landscape that feels at home in this remarkable setting.

As these gardens mature, they'll soften the building's edges, provide habitat for native wildlife and create a beautiful outlook from every room. It's another step towards ensuring the new lodge sits comfortably within the environment that has always made Binna Burra so special.

We look forward to sharing more progress as this exciting project continues.

From above, you can really appreciate how our new lodge is taking
shape on the edge of Woonoongoora – Lamington National Park.

Every stage of construction brings us one step closer to welcoming
guests back to the heart of Binna Burra. We can't wait to share more
as this exciting project continues.

work and commitment to bringing this vision to life.
