Hey Legends!!
Just a quick heads up that you will notice a few small price increases around the pub.
From 1 July, Award wages went up again, this time by 4.75%. To be fully transparent, for us here at the Buchan Caves Hotel, that works out to around $47,000 in extra wages for our team over the next 12 months.
Now, we don't magically pour another few thousand beers or serve another few thousand parmas on 1 July to cover that cost (although we would like to). Like every small country pub, we've got to find a way to keep the doors open while looking after our team and continuing to serve up the food, beers and hospitality you know us for.
And honestly... we're okay with paying our crew more. They work hard … very bloody hard. Whether they're behind the bar, in the kitchen, cleaning or running meals, they're the heart and soul of this place. They deserve every single cent.
The challenge is that wages aren't the only thing going up. Food, drinks, insurance, power, freight... it’s all steadily creeping north. We've absorbed as much as we can for as long as we can, but it's time for some small adjustments.
We've kept the increases as modest as possible because we know everyone's feeling the pinch in the current economic climate.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple, keep our country pub thriving, keep employing locals, keep supporting our community, and keep creating a place where strangers arrive and leave as friends.
Thanks for sticking by us, Legends. Every beer, every meal and every visit helps keep the doors open, and we sure as hell don't take that support for granted.
