Ok - so we've committed and have changed the chips we're serving.
Just in case you need to know the details we were using a 10mm double coated chip, but are now using a 13mm chip. These chips are golden on the outside and fluffy in the middle.
Now the only question is - should we offer gravy and cheese as toppings?

LIMITED TIME OFFER

Churros trace their roots back to the Iberian Peninsula, widely credited to Spain. However, their true origins are a beautiful culinary melting pot of Chinese, Arabic, and Spanish influences.

The exact history of the churro is a blend of a few different theories:
The Chinese Connection: Many food historians believe the churro descended from a crispy, salty Chinese fried-dough street food called youtiao. In the 16th century, Portuguese explorers traveling through China brought the concept back to the Iberian Peninsula, where locals adapted it by adding sugar and shaping it with a star-shaped nozzle.

The Spanish Shepherds: Another popular theory is that Spanish shepherds invented churros. Because they lived in the mountains and lacked access to fresh bakeries, they made a simple flour, water, and oil dough that could be fried easily over an open fire.

The Name's Origin: The name "churro" is widely believed to have come from the Churra breed of sheep in Spain. The shape of the fried dough reminded the shepherds of the sheep’s distinct, curly horns.

Breakfast is back at the Backboard Cafe!!
Come on down to Sheahans Rd for your morning Coffee, Egg & Bacon Muffins, hot jam doughnuts and ham & cheese croissants!

The cake fridge is full of toasties, sandwiches, Greek salad, fruit salad and cupcakes.

There might be some jelly setting in the fridge for mid morning too 😊

Good Morning Melbourne it’s 11 degrees out - it’s almost WARM but if you’re feeling cold and hungry this morning the Backboard Cafe is up and ready to serve with egg and bacon muffins, ham and cheese croissants, raspberry jam doughnuts and of course coffee!!

It’s Day two of our annual Myths and Legends over 40’s basketball tournament and we’re loving serving the grown ups for a change!

We loved having our Walking Basketball Players back this week for Round 2!

17 eager over 55 year olds took the court with smiles, friendliness and sporting prowess.

They enjoyed their training, game and afternoon tea kindly provided by the staff at the Backboard Cafe!

We look forward to seeing how great they walk again next week!
