Brazilian director, playwright and social theorist Augusto Boal developed Forum Theatre in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a way of using theatre to hold a dialogue with audiences about important social issues. He called it ‘rehearsal for revolution’.

Join us for Beyond the Algorithm, where Forum Theatre is used to examine the impact of online misogyny and what we can do to stop it.

Can we use social media to stop hate?
How might we redesign digital spaces to minimise misogyny and associated social harms?

A new theatre project that explores how online misogyny shapes lives – and how we can change the story.

Investigating what motivates people to engage in online misogyny and how we can disrupt its spread of hate and bigotry while supporting victim/survivors. An interactive theatre style that invites audience members to intervene in a set script to change the story.

Developed in collaboration with actors from Canberra Youth Theatre - For students, community members, educators and researchers.
