For the last nine years it has been one of the greatest privileges and pleasures of our life to have looked after you.

If at any time over the last 3,288 days we have missed the mark, and you have left disappointed, know that it wasn’t intentional. The many, many kind messages we have received over the last few days suggest that more often than not we got it right, and for that we recognise and thank our wonderful team: Lara, Canberra’s best barista; Nisha, our level-headed floor manager; Stefan, our creative head chef; and the nearly 200 other front and back of house staff we have worked with since we opened on 25 August 2015.

While we’re closing this book, if you want to keep the story going, you can follow along Dan’s conservation career or skip down Paul’s yellow brick road .

We achieved all that we set out to do with Muse: from our Gourmet Traveller WINE Australia’s Wine List of the Year Two Glass rating and Readers’ Choice Award, and our two SpringOUT LGBTIQ Business of the Year awards; our selection as a nationwide finalist for Best Venue for a Breakfast Meeting in the 2018 Qantas Business Travel Awards, and making it into the 2019 Lonely Planet Australia travel guide; our exceptional literary and cultural program and, most importantly, the community of Canberrans and visitors to our little corner of Kingston that grew up around all that.

The brilliant soul singer Heather Small once asked “what have you done today to make you feel proud?” Well reader, if you have a dream then we wholeheartedly recommend having a go. We close today feeling grateful, accomplished, loved, absolutely exhausted, excited for the future, and very, very proud. Thank you for everything you have given us.

Our final two events have SOLD OUT. Thank you Canberra for your tremendous support of our literary program over the last nine years! It wouldn’t have been possible without you, or without the tireless efforts of our program coordinator Nikki Anderson who is a literary powerhouse. We’re so pleased that Nikki will be in Canberra for our final weekend of programming, so if you have a ticket and are coming, please do say hello! We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

An excellent turnout for our penultimate weekend of events! Dr Jennifer Rayner and Ben Oquist discuss climate change in ‘Climate Clangers’ from series, and the three main obstacles preventing real action. Reader, it was educational, well articulated, and inspiring. If you want to see action on climate change petition your elected officials. We will miss hosting great speakers, passionate about their subject, engaging with erudite audiences.

Was just looking through our autumn menu from 2018 and saw this decadently rich chocolate and liquorice delice with fresh berries, pomegranate molasses and a coffee crumb. Sensational.
