Hello Coona!
So I’ve had a bit of time off to try and get some gas in the tank, and I’d like to share a few thoughts with you that have come to me in that time:
🍋 Coonabarabrans have an insatiable appetite for lemon meringue pie, and I have never baked so many lemon meringue pies in all my life.
👩🍳No matter how hard I try, I cannot make scones that come within cooee of the light and fluffy deliciousness of a Trish Watson baked scone 🤣
🦸♀️That I’m not superwoman, and sadly I can’t continue with Lighthouse Coffee. I have LOVED being in the café and getting to know all of you lovely people, learning how you like your coffee, chatting about nothing, and chatting about everything.
I’ve loved all of the beautiful women who have picked up on mine and Maggie’s penchant for crafty projects and donated bits and bobs from their craft supplies to share with other kids in the Lighthouse community. 🧵🎨
I’ve loved meeting all the rock n rollers, and chatting about music for hours on end. 🎸🎤🎧
And as a newbie to Coona, I've loved having the cafe as a vehicle to get a handle on how the town works, make connections, contribute to the community, and make wonderful new friends.
Those are some of the things that I’ve loved, but the things I’ve struggled with are how much of an impact this venture has had on my family life and physical health – and those are things I’m not overly keen to compromise any longer, so I'm calling it. 😞
🍳I apologise for coming across as a ‘flash in the pan’ – that was not my intention at all. Hospitality is fun and creative and all sorts of other wonderful things, but it is a really tough gig and I take my hat off to all of the other hospitality outlets in Coona for sticking with it and making it work on all levels.
🫶Thank you to all of my beautiful customers that have supported me in this new business and offered their support and friendship in the café.
🙏❤️ My biggest thank you goes out to Michelle and Paddy at The Lighthouse, Coonabarabran for giving me the opportunity, guidance, friendship and good times. I have nothing but admiration for the generosity and love that Michelle serves up to the community on a daily basis in her store and I look forward to seeing her business continue to grow and flourish in the coming year.
Lots of love,
Christine xx
N.B - I know there are a couple of cafe vouchers out there in the ether. Please get in touch and I will come up with a way to honour those for you.
