We are a locally owned family business. Restaurant, Cafe & Bar
We are open to the public for breakfast, lunch, dinner and beverages (alcohol / non-alcoholic).

Trading hours:
8am - 2am
We are currently waiting on equipment, and we will have our OPENING! Watch this space!!! To share a little about us, John and Petra are the owners of Soul Essence on the Bay. We are renowned as “Foodies” from way back. We also have been affectionately crowned by our family and besties as “The hostesses with the mostest”. Our guests always leave very content and satisfied,

with everyone counted for. Petra is a local Larrakia Traditional Owner and John is a long-time resident of Darwin since 1969. We both have large local families in Darwin. With so much love for food, we have bought a restaurant. We want to open our doors to share our hospitality with the warmth and heart of good food, good drink and good company.

Well, this is awkward… in the best way possible 😅

We were all ready for the final goodbye, the last service, the emotional send-off at Soul Essence on the Bay… but life had other plans!

Just when we thought it was time to close this chapter, the owners surprised us with an offer we couldn’t say no to — **3 more months** to keep the magic alive ✨

So instead of a farewell… we’re giving you an **ENCORE** 🎉

That means:
🌅 More sunsets by the bay
🍜 More of your favourite dishes
🍹 More cheeky cocktails
❤️ More laughs, memories, and good times together

We’ll be trading as usual, and from **1st July** we’re turning things up a notch —
⏰ Extended trading hours
🍽️ New menu items coming your way

Mumuk from Soul Essence on the Bay

Our time at Cullen Bay has been a truly special journey — filled with shared meals, laughter, and unforgettable moments. As this chapter comes to an end, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our story. 💖
Our final service at Cullen Bay will be on Sunday, 21st June — we’d love to see you one last time at the bay before we close this chapter.
But this isn’t the end — it’s the turning of a page. A new and exciting chapter is on the horizon, and we can’t wait to reveal what’s next.
In the meantime, Soul Essence is still here for your off-site catering, events, and private functions, bringing our signature flavours and heartfelt service to you, wherever you celebrate.
