It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ibu Anik. Long-time customers all know and love Ibu Anik. Along with Bpk Bobby, she paved the way for the Indonesian food scene in Darwin — from their humble but popular beginnings of selling satays at markets across the city to becoming the beating heart of Sari Rasa Restaurant.
She mentored our mum in navigating this industry when she first stepped into the scene and continued to look out for her even after she made the choice to retire. Ibu Anik’s memory lives on in every plate that we serve.
Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering passion for food and community have left a lasting mark — not only on our family, but on the many people who passed through her kitchen, shared stories over her meals, or simply felt at home within the walls of Sari Rasa. She was more than a cook or a businesswoman — she was a pillar of strength, culture, and kindness.
As we continue to carry on the legacy she helped build, we do so with deep gratitude and respect. We will miss her dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will always be present — in the aroma of spices, the laughter shared over meals, and the memories we hold close.
