The hospitality game in Darwin is heating up and Mulligans at Darwin Golf Club is on the hunt for 2 new team members.

Team Member #1:
We are looking for a reliable and hard working kitchen hand to join our crew. We have 20-25hrs a week available for this position. The role is mainly washing dishes but also includes helping the kitchen by making salads and some light mise-en-place. Shifts for this position start around 5pm. There are some opportunities for extra hours during the day when we have functions.

Team Member #2:
We are looking for a Line Cook to join in the fun and games of our kitchen. We have 30hrs a week available for this position. We are looking to fill our PANS and GRILL sections, so experience in this area would be of benefit to any applicant. Shifts for this position start around 2pm daily so availablity is key to this position. **Please note the Line Cook position is not ideal for anyone with restricted availability we are looking for someone to come onboard long term and full time**

This was just posted by a very good friend and one hell of a chef.

**Language warning**

"Embrace the grind, it can't be cheated.

15yo and a green af appprentice is standing in the kitchen of what was at the time a nationality recognised restaurant in awe of the operation around him.

'I want to be just like you chef'

The reply; 'Well, first you need to show me you can wash those dishes properly'

Slugging away at dishes for hours at a time thinking; 'How the f**k does this teach me to cook!?'. I wanted to cheat the grind, I didn't understand that it's impossible to do so.

You see, learning the pit and its' intricacies will teach you speed, organisation, attention to detail, hard work and most importantly that even the 'lowliest' job is still a crucial element to a successful venue.

I wanted to learn how to make sauces but didn't know how to cut an onion.
I wanted to be able to cook the perfect steak without knowing what the cuts even were.
I wanted to run a service before I could even run a section.

I had to learn to embrace and enjoy the grind. The failures, mistakes and royal f**k - ups are part of this beast, an in-built feedback loop of results and information.

The grind is your friend, a guide and mentor to be loved and appreciated for what it is. It's the single most important ideal to embrace while being the most punishing to boot.

Never be daunted by the enormity of the culinary crafts, no-one will ever learn everything but we can all embrace the grind on the way to trying."

Mulligan's is looking for a casual Kitchen Hand to join the crew.

Award wage.
Evening shifts.
Flexible rosters.

Applicants should have a good understanding of English and be able to communicate effectively. Transport is a necessity as public transport does not run evenings or weekends.

Duties include washing dishes and assisting the kitchen by making salads and desserts during service. Assisting chefs with prep when possible.
