Doing things together 🤎🧡🤎

One of my favourite parts of having George at Kindfolk is watching him want to be involved in everything.

Arrange and smell the flowers. Carry paper cups in. Taste test the cakes and all the cinnamon coated apples. Help greet customers shyly. Rearrange things I’ve just arranged 😅 (calm down Venus in Virgo!)

Not always efficient, but always worth it.

These are the little moments I’ll remember long after the busy days are forgotten.

And maybe that’s what Kindfolk has always been about. Not perfection. Not rushing. Just making space for connection, community and the simple joy of doing life together.

Whether you are here every week or just passing through 〰️ thank you for being part of our story. We’re so glad you’re here to enjoy a slice of our world 🤎

Happy WA Day ☕️💛

There’s something pretty special about Western Australia.

Wide open spaces. Salt in the air. Country roads. Tiny towns with big hearts.

For me, it’s been paperbark boats drifting down the Margaret River, fresh apricots picked straight from the tree, and long afternoons lying in the grass watching the clouds roll by. The kind of childhood memories that stay with you forever.

And now, watching George grow up here in Denmark, I feel that same magic all over again. A childhood connected to nature, community and simple pleasures. It’s something I never take for granted.

We feel incredibly lucky to call Denmark home and to spend our mornings pouring coffee for locals, visitors, friends and families who make this place what it is. Your support of this little café has given us the opportunity to build a future here, and for that, we are deeply grateful.

Here’s to the wild coastline, the tall karri forests, the growers, the makers, the dreamers, and everyone choosing to build a life in this beautiful corner of the world.

Happy WA Day from Kindfolk. 💛

Feel-good chai soaked Aussie oats with a juniper berry maple glaze, nut butter and our crunchy house granola ❤️🧡❤️
The quiet star of the menu right now.

It’s been a big beautiful weekend at Kindfolk, with sunlight pouring through the wonky windows and the river nearby reminding us to slow down a little. We’re feeling really grateful to be here 〰️ in this old wonky boathouse, in this little town, sharing warm bowls and good moments with all of you x

This week, I shared tears with a woman I had never met before.

It was such a beautiful, tender moment 〰️one I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

It reminded me how many people are quietly carrying stories we cannot see. Motherhood, grief, love, longing, pride, exhaustion… all existing side by side.

But so does joy.

Warm coffees shared across tables. Little hands holding cake forks. Conversations with strangers that somehow stay with you forever. The quiet beauty of nurturing one another in small ways.

Mother’s Day can be a tender day for many reasons.

My heart goes out today to the mums facing this day without their children. To women longing to be mothers. To mothers carrying loss alongside love.

And also to those trying to nurture their own children when nurturing wasn’t something they themselves were deeply shown.

But I also hope today gives you something soft to hold onto. A beautiful coffee. A slice of cake. A cuddle from your child. A conversation. Sunshine on your face. Proof that there is still warmth and kindness in the world.

We all come from women. And over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to find so many beautiful ones.

If you feel alone today, I invite you to Kindfolk Coffee.

I would love to hold a little space for you. To see you, hear your story, and offer some love your way.

And for those celebrating, I want to honour you too 〰️ with lavish cakes, award-winning coffee, nourishing food, and hospitality made with love, from me to you.

All of it is welcome here.

Kaya x

Sometimes nurture arrives quietly.
In shared tables, warm coffees, familiar faces, and the people who love your child like their own.

Making my heart sing watching my bestie care for George with such gentleness, patience and kindness 🤍

Motherhood was never meant to be done alone, and I’m so grateful for the beautiful people who help hold both me and George through the busy days, hard days and beautiful ones too.

Tag a bestie, teta, aunty, chosen family member or beautiful human who deserves to be honoured this Mother’s Day weekend ✨ and we’ll choose one to gift a Kindfolk brunch too when they are next in town x

There’s something like mycelium here 〰️
threads running quietly beneath the surface, connecting people, stories, moments.

Under this roof, things find their way to each other.

This toastie did the same. Mushrooms, three cheese, local rocket 〰️ simple, but somehow it stuck.

Shared, talked about, come back for.

It’s here for a little while longer…
before it disappears again. I know what I’m ordering tomorrow 🍄🙏

Sometimes I miss Augusta, and those days at Two Seas Collective… making art, watching the whales pass by, time moving in that slow, salty kind of way.

It was such a beautiful chapter of my life 〰️ one I’ll always carry with me.

But what I’ve found here in Denmark
has been something even deeper than I expected.

This community has shown up for me in the most incredible way 〰️ the locals, my beloved Augustians, and so many of you travelling from Albany and Perth.

All of you… Kindfolk.

I feel so supported here, so held, and so grateful, for all of you helping to make this a cafe to stay, anda cafe to be yours too.

Thank you for showing up for me 〰️ daily, weekly, or even just once on your holidays.

It truly means more than you know.
This little space exists because of you 🤍

Back on tomorrow from 8am with our winter hours 〰️ proper homemade cakes, delicious brews, epic savoury fare from the kitchen, and the kind of hospitality that holds you for a while. The kind that notices you 🤍 see you soon I hope!! X kaya

The cookies that have followed me with love from café to café since Pixel. A little piece of history, memory and heart 〰️ now resting on the Kindfolk bench for the first time.

They are made with rosemary buttercream, in honour of ANZAC Day. Rosemary has long been a symbol of remembrance, and a gentle way to pause for those who served, those who were lost, and all the lives forever changed by war.

Days like this also remind us that conflict is never only history. Around the world, many are still living through fear, loss and displacement right now. Our thoughts are with all people suffering through war and crisis, and with the hope that compassion, unity and peace may prevail.

We’ll be here all long weekend from 8am–1pm, including Monday, with warm coffee, fresh food, cakes, and a space to gather gently.

Lest we forget. 🤍

Some dreams arrive quietly.

Not with trumpets… but with tired feet, warm coffee cups, little hands beside you, and a life that somehow keeps unfolding in ways you never expected.

This place has held so much for me. Motherhood. Risk. Hope. Exhaustion. Joy. Community.

And in the middle of it all… moments like this. Tea leaves on the floor, half eaten apples lying around, pencils forever everywhere.

Kindfolk was never just a café. It was a way back to myself. I’m still finding the way back 🥹 thankyou for holding me x

Open from 8am tomorrow 🤍 slightly later hourly start as we shift seasons into the cool 🤍
