Ordinarily, through the windows of our little octagonal home, a backdrop of vast blue beckons from beyond the trees.

Not today. It's wild out there. It takes a lot of rain and icy winds for Jude not to be pulling on galoshes

We're staying home. Baking. Lighting a fire.

A little sad not to be there for all the brave vagabonds seeking a hot cuppa. Thinking of everyone who's out there today.

Regatta Day on the peninsula ☀️
Tasmanians have gathered by the water on this day since 1838, a quiet mid-summer pause to celebrate community and life on this wild island.

We’re brewing today 9am-3pm, serving coffee, cookies, and sunshine by a salty sea and under the bright yellow sun…and a bunch of sunflowers grown and gifted to us by expert gardener, little Bowie 💛

Hello from the lookout.
Summer has truly settled over the peninsula now. Long light on the headland, warm winds moving across water and a steady gathering of good people chasing coffee, cookies, and a moment to breathe.

It’s been our biggest season yet, proudly held by our small team and the familiar rituals that anchor us each day. We stepped away for a small break this week, a tiny exhale between the rush of summer and the fullness of family life…and now we’re back, into the rhythm that shaped Cubed from the start.

What we cherish most about this time of year is the way the coastline gathers everyone together. Travellers, locals, old friends, new faces. In a world full of collisions and surprises, there’s a steadiness in this corner of the island…where simple offerings and communion unfold against a backdrop of ocean and sky as far as you can see.

Tasmania is wild, welcoming, and earthed in long-held traditions, and we feel that deeply in summer. There’s so much to embrace, so many ways to soften the shoulders and return to what we know best.

We’re back at the lookout today.
Normal hours: Thursday-Monday and 7 days during school + public holidays.

We’re off-peninsula and on-island for a few days.
Sim’s running the Bruny Ultra, chasing the road like it owes him something, and tomorrow he’ll be pretending he’s not broken. Look at that mad grin...up before dawn brewing coffee for his pre-race ritual.

The support crew are bunkered down in a little Tassie shack with a fire, an outdoor bath, and the quiet seaside hum we like best.

Cubed is back next week - thanks, legends. ☕🍪

Hey Cubed Family, after this Monday, we’ll close our doors until September. Time to rest, to breathe, to wander through our island’s winter grace.

We’ll be digging dirt, pademelon-proofing veggie patches, probably just feeding pademelons, baking bread that never cools, Monopoly fights (again), swearing off Monopoly (again), splitting firewood under silver afternoon skies, building roaring fires beneath the stars, climbing stony islands, braving the ocean and chasing snow.

Drop by today or tomorrow for your last taste of Cubed this season. We’ll return in September - renewed, grateful, and ready to welcome you back ♡

The rain is falling, the winds are stirring and it feels like an inside or wrapped-in-raincoats kind of day ✨️

We're staying home, no silver bullet up the hill. We hope you're all safe and cosy and warm, feet up and with lovely ponders to ponder as the weather hits.

Our wee break last week was magic...now we're back! Setting up the humble van this morning felt lovely, as a cool Tasmanian summer breeze wafted up the canyon and the machines began to steam.

We hope everyone's weekend has been just grand.

Well, that's a wrap for another Summer school holiday run. We're taking the next 5 days off to swim and stretch.

39 days straight of brewing, joking around, catching the salt breeze, loving the vibe, rolling cookie dough balls at dawn, celebrating Christmas by the Sea, chasing sparkling bioilluminescence in the bay, chasing the dog, cramming banana breads in the oven, switching out drum after drum of our exclusive coffee beans, endless dad jokes (sorry), friends, family, vagabonds, regulars, visitors, chopping chocolate and as always loving working and playing with our crazy coffee-loving Cubed Team.

Thanks to our tremendous staff, our suppliers, our loving customers and all the rest. We're tired but you all make it so very fun xx

Goodness gracious, it's almost Christmas!
It seems everyone is way ahead of the Christmas day curve or way behind this year.

We're taking a wee break to get ahead of the baking, carolling, tinselling, sweeping of pine needles, and overall joy of the holiday season.

We'll be back with a big Cubed crew ready to brew on boxing day, then 7 days, every single day for the whole of the school holidays. Or as Jude would say, for the rest of his very best holiday in his whole best life ever.

Thanks to Santa for making the time to make so many appearances for the kids this festive season. He must be exhausted. To this one in particular, who offered me a lollipop after Jude pushed me in a ditch upon seeing the old fella and his convoy of sparkly fire trucks roll up 😆
