Dear Emerald Community,

As we close the doors to our beloved business for the final time, John and I are filled with a profound sense of gratitude and a deep sadness. We regret that we were unable to reach out to all of our wonderful customers to bid them a proper farewell before our closure on June 4th.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us over the past 20 incredible years. Your loyalty, kindness, and friendship have meant the world to us. We are so sorry that we did not have the opportunity to personally thank each and every one of you and express how much you mean to us before we closed our doors.

The outpouring of love and well wishes we have received from our cherished customers has touched our hearts in ways we can hardly put into words. We feel seen, heard, and deeply appreciated. While we are heartbroken to be leaving, knowing that you understand the immense effort and dedication we have poured into our business over the years brings us comfort.

We are so grateful to have been a part of this community, to have known and been known by you. Emerald will always be our first hometown in Australia, and we will return to visit the friends, neighbors, and community that we love. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Thank you, Emerald, for everything. We feel profoundly lucky to have called this beautiful place home and to have had the privilege of serving this amazing community. We will carry you with us always.

Dear Valued Customer in Emerald,

We noticed that many of our customers, including you, missed our last open day on Tuesday, 4th June, due to the unexpected closure of ABC Chinese Restaurant. We understand that this may have caused inconvenience.

As a special gesture, we have decided to open our doors on Wednesday, the Emerald public holiday, until 2:00pm. This is specifically to accommodate you and allow you to place your final order with us. Please note that we will not be charging a public holiday surcharge.

To make this even more special, we're offering a discount on soft drinks with your meal. You can add cans of soft drinks to your order for just $2 each.

To place your order, please call us between 10:00am and 2:00pm on Wednesday. We are looking forward to serving you one last time and appreciate your patronage over the years.

As I sit down to write this letter, my heart is heavy with emotion as I reflect on the past two decades of serving the people of Emerald at ABC Chinese Restaurant. From the moment we opened our doors, we have been incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support and warmth we have received from the local community and residents.
Over the years, we have had the profound honor of witnessing countless special moments – a young couple celebrating their first date, families gathering for milestone celebrations, friends enjoying a night out. These memories have been the highlight of our journey and have truly made our work a labor of love.
However, after much contemplation and with a heavy heart, John and I have made the difficult decision to close our beloved restaurant in 5th June 2024. Our children have grown and are pursuing their dreams, and we find ourselves yearning for a change of pace and a new chapter in our lives. We have cherished every moment spent with our family and elders within the walls of ABC Chinese Restaurant, but we know that it is time for us to embark on a new adventure.
While we have explored numerous options to keep our legacy alive, we have found that finding dedicated, long-term staff who share our passion for authentic Chinese cuisine and exceptional service has proven to be a challenge. As we prepare to close, we do so with a heart full of gratitude for the unwavering support of our incredible staff, loyal customers, dear friends, and the wonderful community of Emerald.

Dear Valued Customer,

I would like to express my gratitude to all those who have recently tried our traditional Sichuan cuisine. The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive, from those who enjoy spicy dishes, to those who prefer milder flavors, and even those who are adventurous enough to try something new and different from our regular menu.

I am delighted to see our customers embracing the opportunity to explore new flavors and expand their culinary horizons. It is my belief that by trying something unfamiliar, they are opening themselves up to a whole new world of Chinese cuisine. With China boasting 8 main culinary styles, each representing a different culture and region, there is so much to discover and appreciate.

In response to the requests of our loyal customers, we will be continuing to serve our Sichuan dishes, including MaPo Tofu, Fish-flavored Pork, and Sliced Fish in Boiled Oil, for the next few weeks. We hope that more people will have the chance to savor the authentic flavors of China.

Please be aware that these dishes have been in high demand and we have limited quantities available each day. To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy them, we will be offering an additional 10 servings for each dish until they are sold out.

Sichuan Cuisine Week celebrates the bold flavors of Sichuan cuisine, known for its fish fragrance, red oil, strange taste, and spiciness. This cuisine is characterized by simplicity, freshness, and strong local flavors. The week features three iconic dishes - Mapo DouFu, Shui Zhu Yu, and Yuxiang Pork Julienne - each with unique and addictive flavor profiles. Despite the use of chilies and Sichuan peppercorns, the true essence of Sichuan cuisine lies in the artful blending of flavors, offering a diverse range of tastes.
