‘The Little Caff That Could’.

This isn’t an announcement we had anticipated to have to make, but Duck Duck Bruce is coming to an end, with our last service set to be Sunday July 16th.

Our landlord is not renewing our lease. After researching other sites that didn’t feel like home, we’ve decided to celebrate going out on top and give ourselves six months to let the dust settle.

We’ll take the opportunity to have a Sunday lie in, pour our love and energy into and make significantly less late night carrot cake before we make any big calls on the Bruce’s future.

Duck Duck Bruce has been an adventure born of, and sustained by love on all sides. We couldn’t be prouder of what we have made or more grateful for everyone who has worked alongside us or come in for brekkie over the past seven years. Absolute legends each and every one of you.

Let the four week feeding frenzy commence, we can’t wait to feed you up on all the good stuff and share a laugh one last time.

Sending big love & all the Christmas cheer in the world today to everyone Freo-side and beyond.

Here’s to a day where everyday pressures are put on hold in favour of Die Hard, margaritas & groaningly full bellies.

We’ll be back at the caff from 8am on the 27th for all your post Chrissy breakfast needs.

Merry Christmas Legends

5 years ago this week we got the keys to what has truly become The Little Caff That Could.

And so began the most insane 11 days we’ll ever have to reach a truly unrealistic opening date and an adventure unlike anything we could have imagined.

To the army of Friendloves who were so selfless with their time and skills to help us bring this nonsense to life, to the beautiful souls who have worked with us and humbled us with your love and dedication to the place and our customers, to everyone who has come in, spent their hard earned dollars with us and shared a bit of your day with us;

Thank You.

The Bruce is truly an adventure born of, and sustained by, love from all sides. We couldn’t be prouder of our little slice of Freo or to be a tiny part of what makes it such a magic place to call home.

Like everyone, our hearts have been breaking at the daily news from Afghanistan. It took a lot to shake the feeling of hopelessness and a quote from the Red Cross website really resonated. ‘No crisis is too big for you to make a difference’.

Thanks to all you wonderful people spending your hard earned dollars with us, we are in a position to do the only thing we can do - help fund those on the ground to distribute disaster relief and also those risking everything to improve the future for those who have been left so vulnerable.

We've donated 10% of our total takings last week from Lions And Tigers and Duck Duck Bruce and hopefully, with a busy couple of weeks ahead we'll be able to do more. There will also be a donation box at the till in both restaurants and we will match you dollar for dollar for the month of September.

For those who live further away - you can absolutely help too. We have split our donation between RedCross who have the reach and resources to best distribute immediate relief on the ground and LEARN who do incredible work in education and are dedicated to defending and furthering the right to quality education for the women and girls whose prospects are so terrifyingly under threat.

Thanks to all of you for making us able to make these sorts of donations. You guys rock 💙💙💙

Big love to P Town and on behalf of small businesses everywhere, thanks to everyone for another stellar effort making lockdown number something a short one 👊👊👊

We CANNOT WAIT to back to serving tables tomorrow - we’ve missed you guys!

Friday night has been pretty much devoted to getting the baking back up to speed, so everybody’s favourite peanut butter brownies and other chums will be ready to roll for the morning.

Number restrictions mean bookings are slim, but we have found it means people move through quicker than usual, so we always end up with more walk in spots than we expect to, especially early on in the day.

If you don’t want to chance a walk in table, feel free to hit us up for takeaway. Just check the menu on the website and give us a call to lock in your pick up spot.

Congrats P Town for looking out for each other and doing the right thing. The best of efforts all round 👏👏👏
