To those who question whether I wanted to continue to operate the café, the answer is a definite YES!
As for the compensation, I received less than half of what I believe is the fair value for the 4 years remaining in the lease.
You may ask why I accepted the offer; the answer is this: a while back GLADSTONE Ports Corporation (GPC) took over 6 parking spaces that are normally available to customers of the café. When I questioned the takeover, I learned that the City Council had granted GPC special permission to take over the parking spaces. Rather than vacating the parking spaces, they offered me financial compensation. Since I wasn’t going to get the parking spaces back, I accepted the offer. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I later learned that the offer was not compensation for the parking spaces but rather for breaking the lease.
GPC then gave me a short notice to vacate the premises. I asked if I could continue to operate until they get around to working on the space for the café, but the answer was no!
I am very disappointed by how the GAC and City Council handled this matter. But more importantly, closing the café meant the loss of 10 jobs the café supported and was a disservice to the clients that frequented the café.
The café offered a beautiful panoramic view of Gladstone, and it received TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice 2021 award for being in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide.
I truly miss seeing and servicing all the wonderful clients that frequented the café.
Again, thanks to all who started and supported the petition. I am ever so grateful to you! This has been truly heart-warming. 😊❤️🙏 🙏🙏

😥 It is with great sadness the Outlook Cafe will be CLOSED for renovations as of Monday 31st Jan 2022.

This weekend will be our Last until further notice!

We would have loved to continue to serve you, up until the very last moment, however It's out of Our hands!

It has been a great honour to be of Service to the Gladstone Community and travellers over the years! 🥰

😍 We have had some truly incredible customers that make our job, one of the best experiences, coupled with endless views of our beautiful city... We are so thankful for our time here on the Hill! 💞

Keanu Charles Reeves

Actor, film director, film producer and musician Keanu Charles Reeves (Keanu Charles Reeves), missed the first 20 minutes of the party dedicated to the end of filming of his new film in one of the clubs in New York.
He waited patiently in the rain to be let in.
No one recognized him.
The club owner said: "I didn't even know Keanu was standing in the rain waiting to be let in - he didn't say anything to anyone."
"He travels by public transport".
"He easily communicates with homeless people on the street and helps them".
- He is only 58 years old (September 2, 1964)
- He can just eat a hot dog in the park, sitting between ordinary people.
- After filming one of the "Matrix", he gave all the stuntmen a new motorcycle - in recognition of their skill.
- He gave up most of the fee for the salaries of costume designers and computer scientists who draw special effects in "The Matrix" - decided that their share of participation in the budget of the film was underestimated.
- He reduced his fee in the film The Devil's Advocate" to have enough money to invite Al Pacino.
- Almost at the same time his best friend died; his girlfriend lost a child and soon died in a car accident, and his sister fell ill with leukemia.
Keanu did not break: he donated $5 million to the clinic that treated his sister, refused to shoot (to be with her), and created the Leukemia Foundation, donating significant sums from each fee for the film.
You can be born a man, but to remain one..
