Ok let’s talk chamomile.

Most people think chamomile is just a bedtime tea. Something gentle. Something mild. Something your grandma drank.

Your grandma was right - but she knew more than she let on.

Chamomile is one of the oldest and most widely used medicinal herbs in the world. The ancient Egyptians dedicated it to their gods. The Romans used it for everything from digestive issues to skin conditions. In traditional European herbalism, it was considered a cure-all and the science backs it up.

Chamomile contains apigenin, a compound that binds to receptors in the brain that help reduce anxiety and initiate sleep. It goes beyond sleep. It eases digestive discomfort, reduces bloating, calms inflammation, and supports the immune system.

Here is what most people miss though - chamomile works best as a ritual, not a one-off. Drinking it once before bed when you are already exhausted is not the same as building it into your daily wind-down.

Your nervous system responds to consistency. It responds to signals. A cup of chamomile 30 minutes to an hour before bed tells your body the day is done.

That is exactly why chamomile is the foundation of our Peace and Harmony blend - paired with lavender, lemon balm, passionflower, and ashwagandha. Not just one herb doing one job. Five herbs working together to help your nervous system shift from survival to rest.

Don’t underestimate chamomile. It is small, gentle, and has been quietly healing people for thousands of years. organic

Ginger is one of the oldest medicines on the planet, and most people still think it’s just for nausea.

It’s antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, supports digestion, improves circulation, and helps ease muscle pain. It’s been used across Asian, Middle Eastern, and African cultures for thousands of years - not as a trend, but as a daily essential.

Your ancestors didn’t reach for ginger because a study told them to. They reached for it because it worked. Sore stomach? Ginger. Cold coming on? Ginger. Need to warm the body from the inside out? Ginger. Feeling unsettled? Ginger.

Modern research is finally catching up to what traditional cultures have always known - Ginger is a powerhouse.

It’s one of three spices from the ginger family that sit at the heart of our Ginger Ninja blend, alongside turmeric and galangal. Three cousins. One force. It’s used in at least four of our blends.

If you’re not using ginger daily, your body is missing out. 🫚

We often see cinnamon as a core ingredient in many products and it’s important to know the difference between the two types of Cinnamon.

Ceylon Cinnamon is also known as True Cinnamon. It’s lighter in colour, delicate in flavour, and has been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine. It’s anti-inflammatory, helps balance blood sugar, and is gentle on the liver.

Then there’s Cassia Cinnamon - the one you’ll find in most supermarkets and most commercial chai blends. It’s cheaper, stronger in taste, and contains high levels of coumarin, which in large amounts can be hard on your liver.

The problem? Most labels just say “cinnamon.” They don’t tell you which one you’re getting and if it’s cheap, it’s almost always cassia.

At You Are The Plant, we only use organic Ceylon Cinnamon in our blends. In our Caffeine Free Chai Blends ( Ginger Ninja- Turmeric Chai, Indian Vanilla and Arabian) and across our full range. If you’re drinking something every day for your health, what’s in it matters.🤷🏻‍♀️

Not all cinnamon is created equal. Know what’s in your cup. 🌿
