The Merri-bek Festivals team are currently doing consultation on the future of our local festivals.

Below is a brief breakdown of what is being considered:

*๐—ฆ๐˜†๐—ฑ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜† ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜๐˜† (Brunswick) โ€“ to go biennial alternate year to the Coburg Night Market

๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ถ-๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ธ ๐—–๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—–๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—น state the reasons for these changes is due to:

- A disproportion of festival resources across the municipality

- Limited geographic distribution of events

- Limited opportunities for artists

- The effects of climate change and extreme weather on outdoor events

- Increasing costs of production

- Condensed programming and high workload

So they are proposing to make some changes to the bigger festivals in order to redistribute the program more widely across the municipality, and to increase more climate resilience.

Thanks to our ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฟ ๐—ฉ๐—ผ๐—น๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ who showed up to power through the cleaning and moving around of furniture over the two days. I don't think the room has ever been so clean before!
