The Robot Bun Factory

So, it’s almost a year and a half now since we lost Robot Bun Factory and over night our life changed. From everything that the experience threw at us, we (Lesley and myself) never got a chance to say goodbye or better yet, hello! 👋 And from early November of 2024 the idea of designing or building something in appreciation of the cafe started to take form and this journey/ project has been the therapy I needed to get through one of the hardest periods of my life.

We’re really proud to say that it’s finally ready and what I’ve called the “Ollie Tee” has been solely designed, screen printed and made with love and care. So we’re finally able to turn losing the cafe, to now celebrating, honouring and to say thank you to the Midland community that made Robot Bun Factory as special as it was and we couldn’t have done this without Larrece the owner of Bellevue Cottage allowing this very opportunity. We have been offered a space this Friday and Saturday only in her beautiful cafe to reconnect with our customers once again. So please, feel free and come down to Bellevue cottage, grab a coffee and say hello, we’re really excited and looking forward to seeing you then!

Hi there guys,
Firstly, we’d like to say thank you to everyone that has supported and made Robot Bun Factory what it was. From day one, you made us feel welcomed, supported and valued and we did whatever we could to reflect that back to anyone that opened the doors and entered our little robot world, so thank you very much. It was a fun and special place, but to Lesley and I, it was our home away from home.

We know that it’s been a long time since we’ve last posted and for that an apology is needed. It’s been very hard to jump on social media and give an update, where unfortunately in reality there hasn’t really been one. To say the last year has been difficult, that’s definitely an understatement and yet somehow here we are a year later.

As the current state of building resides, a lot has happened but nothing really has happened. There’s no real timeline for a projected date to which the building will be ready again for occupancy. Although all tenants (including us) have vacated and removed all contents, time seems to have stood still there. Lesley and I had to come to the realisation and make some even more difficult decisions and face the hard fact that we weren’t able to go back there. That being said, I’d still like to think though, that in the future, that the Robot Bun Factory would be able to make a come back, my fingers are crossed. So in the meantime, we are working on something pretty special that I hope reflects a little of the heart that was the cafe, I really hope you guys will like and hoping it’ll be ready soon. All updates will be revealed over the next coming days.

Thank you again for the kind words, the encouraging msgs, support and the patience that was shown to Lesley and I over this period, you have made it easier for us to get through it. To our amazing team, thank you for making Robot Bun Factory what it was, in no way could we have done it without you. And anyone that walked into our little robot world, thank you.

Happy Lunar New Year!

Currently I am in Taiwan to celebrate Lunar New Year with my family. I miss them a lot and do enjoy the time with them because last time I saw my family was five years ago🥺

Since the fire happened to our cafe, it has been three months. Although there is still a long way for the restoration, we still received many messages and support from our customers.
In order to express our gratitude for the help, I would like to send the postcards to our customers🤖❤️ If you’d like to receive a postcard from me while I’m in sunny Taiwan, just dm me 👍😉

Look at this group!! 🤖🙂
Last night was our Robot’s Xmas staff dinner. We are so incredibly proud of every single person around this table. These are the amazingly talented people that made up the Robot Bun Factory and it goes without saying that our little robot world would not have been the same.
Thank you for an incredible year and not quite how I imagined ending the year mind, but good things are coming and we’re excited about that! Thank you again in no special order to the wonderfully amazingly talented 👏Mae, Ben, Tess, Amber, Penny, Laica, Debbie, Jean, Mark, Serenity, Anita, Amy, Annalise🤩 and an extra special shout-out to my Lesley, what can I say other than let’s do it all over again!!!! Hey guys
Does this photo look familiar at all? Well, this was our very first comedy night! It was a few years back, I think mid 2017, and the amazing snap captured here is from a great friend to the cafe (Jon Lloyd) shout out to Jon!!! 👋🙂
And it definitely wouldn’t have been possible without a very good friend of mine who put everything together, we had a lot of fun doing it. A huge shout out to 👍

This old photo is a very special one.
Once everything was signed and sealed, it all became official and very, very real. It was the day we got our keys! As always, Lesley’s as ever welcoming and I’m in the background thinking to myself how am I going to “robot beautify” this place??? A lot of the items, from memory we either sold or gave away. Haha there actually wasn’t a lot that we decided to keep, but there was a couple of things that caught our eye and decided to gave them a forever home. Apart from Les and I, can you see what we decided to keep ?
And extra points if anyone can spot out very first robot?? 🤖
