Mornington Golf Club friends and followers are being invited to get behind a special fundraising initiative that brings together two very different marathon journeys for one important cause.

On 11 October 2026, our General Manager, Craig Murdoch, will line up at the start of the Melbourne Marathon to tackle his very first marathon. Alongside him will be fellow Mornington member, Peder Haugen, who will be reaching an extraordinary milestone by completing his 100th marathon.

While one runner is taking on the challenge for the first time and the other is celebrating a century of marathons, both share a common goal - raising funds and awareness for Speak and Share, a charity dedicated to supporting mental health awareness and encouraging open and honest conversations.

Mental health affects people from all walks of life. Through their fundraising efforts, Craig and Peder hope to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health, encourage people to check in on one another, and support the important work Speak and Share continues to do within our community.

For Craig, the journey to the start line has involved stepping well outside his comfort zone and committing to months of training to achieve a personal goal he once thought was beyond reach.

For Peder, reaching 100 marathons is a remarkable achievement that reflects years of dedication, resilience and perseverance. Completing this milestone while supporting such an important cause makes the occasion even more meaningful.
