⚠️ Bear Safety Warning: Record High Fatalities
This year, bear attacks have tragically resulted in a record 7 deaths in Japan. If you or your families,friends are traveling in mountainous areas, especially during the active season (autumn to winter), please be extremely cautious.

●Make Noise Wear a bear bell, whistle, or talk/sing loudly to alert bears to your presence.
●Travel Together Walk in groups, as bears are less likely to approach multiple people.
●Manage Food Never leave food or garbage out; bears are attracted to smells. Pack out all trash.
●Be Alert Check for local bear sighting reports and avoid dawn/dusk, when bears are most active.

●Bear is Distant Quietly and slowly back away.
Do not run or shout.
●Bear is Close Stand your ground, look big (raise arms), and speak calmly. Slowly back away. Be ready to use bear spray.
Do not run (they will chase you). Do not scream.
●Bear Attacks Lie flat on your stomach, protect your head/neck with your hands, and remain still. If you have a backpack, use it for protection. Do not fight back (unless the attack is prolonged).
It's certainly a relief that the Australian mountains are filled with Kangaroos.🦘
