To our wonderful community!
We are making this post to announce that as our lease comes up for renewal, we have made the difficult decision to not renew for another 5 years. Our last day of business will be Saturday, May 23rd 2026.
For those who don’t know us personally, we (the owners of Outdo) AJ & Brittney, are Newy locals who also own next door.
What started as a passion project became something truly special, and that is 100% because of the incredible humans who have run this place like it was their own. Our team have shaped Outdo into the business it is today and we could not be more proud of them.
To our managers and team, past and present, thank you. You greeted locals by name, remembered their orders, made delicious coffees and served up toasties people have genuinely raved about. You opened on cold mornings, handled the rushes, and made every single person feel welcome. It wasn’t us behind the machine every morning. It was you.
To our community, the familiar faces, the regulars who became friends, the people who never stopped showing up. Newy has the most incredible community spirit and you have shown us that every single day. Getting to be part of your morning routines, catch ups, and slow Sundays has meant the world.
Why are we not renewing? Running a small hospitality business in 2026 is incredibly tough. Rising costs and overheads made committing to another five years a risk we couldn’t justify. On top of that, our priorities have shifted. Our other business demands more of our time than ever and stretching ourselves across both was no longer serving either business the way they deserve. We never wanted to run Outdo at anything less than its best.
So if you have been meaning to pop in, please do. Grab your favourite coffee, your go-to toastie, and say hello. We would love to see as many familiar faces as possible before we close our doors for the last time on Saturday May 23rd.
To everyone who has ever walked through our door, cheered us on, or been part of the Outdo story in any way, thank you. This little cafe has given us so much more than we ever expected.
