An Update on Chris, From Amy x
In November, Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer — news that turned our world upside down.
Since then, he has undergone chemotherapy with incredible strength. Even through the harshest treatments, he stayed positive, kept pushing forward, and fought with everything he had.
I truly believe his mindset has played a huge part in the progress he’s made. He always says "Amy its all about the shoulders up, as long I'm healthy up there, then I'll be right everywhere else"
Now, Chris is preparing for surgeries over the coming months, and his oncologist has placed him on a curative plan rather than a palliative one. There is still a long road ahead, but we are so incredibly grateful.
We are beyond proud of him. He has shown our 4 kids what it means to face something terrifying and still stand strong.
Thank you to our family, friends, customers, and everyone who has supported us — whether you’ve helped at the yard, helped with the kids, cooked meals, driven trucks, or simply checked in. It means so much to us.
The photo attached is of our dear friend Sally, where Chris rang the chemo bell alongside her at the Cancer Centre. Not everyone can say they save lives every day in their job, but Sally’s knowledge, perseverance, and kindness may have just saved Chris’ life. We are forever grateful, Sal
Unfortunately, We know not everyone gets this outcome, and sometimes cancer can feel like a cruel lottery. That’s not lost on us for a second, and our love goes out to all those we have met along the way fighting the fight.
Please — go and get those bowels checked. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Bowel Cancer is now the #1 killer of people under 50 years in the USA.
We’re so proud of Chris… and hopeful he’ll be back cooking briskets before long.
