My passion for eating and making desserts has been a life long affair. Growing up as a vegetarian, we always had vegetarian versions of desserts at home, but when we were at friend’s parties, we occasionally would eat desserts that contained eggs. I d
idn’t really mind it at that point, but as I grew older and moved to Perth in 1999, I decided to stop eating desserts which contained eggs altogether! This is when I realised that there was a huge gap when it came to availability of desserts that were suitable for vegetarians. It was very frustrating to go out with friends and family and not be able to order a regular dessert like everyone else, so I started experimenting with different recipes. Some were recipes that my family used and passed down to me and others were recipes that I modified to suit vegetarians. Once my friends tasted my cakes, they started to ask me if I would make cakes for special occasions and that was how I started getting into cake decorating as a hobby. As the years went by, I had more and more requests for cakes. To hone my skills, I attended cake decorating classes and took part in competitions. Finally, in 2012 I made the brave decision to start this business officially. Since then, I’ve worked on various types of cakes and added vegan and gluten free cakes to my repertoire. Through the years, I had many people, be it friends, family or even clients, who lived outside of Perth but still wanted to have my cakes. Taking this into consideration, I created cake mixes that are easy to use and can be made using regular pantry staples. So far the response to these cake mixes have been great. This has made me very happy because through this, I can help fellow vegetarians and vegans have their cake and eat it too!
