Hello everyone, Tanveer here — owner of Punjab.
Can you believe today we are celebrating 45 years 🎉
Proudly making Punjab the oldest Indian restaurant still operating in Perth.
We’ve always believed in staying small, staying in one place, and focusing every day on serving the best food we can — and that’s why we’re still here.
It all began 45 years ago, right here in the same location. I was fortunate to be part of Punjab from the early days, working with the original owners before taking over 12 years later.
From paper orders and phone calls… to websites, online ordering, and Uber Eats — we’ve seen it all, and we’re still standing.
Back then, it was simply “chicken curry” or “lamb curry.” Today, it’s butter chicken, tikka, and korma — but the heart of what we do hasn’t changed.
And honestly… I couldn’t even guess how many thousands of litres of butter chicken we’ve made over the years.
One of the most special parts of this journey is seeing generations grow with us — couples who once came in dating, now returning with their children and grandchildren. That means everything.
This milestone belongs to three groups:
Our customers — thank you for your loyalty and support.
Our staff — past and present — you are the heart of Punjab.
Our suppliers — thank you for helping us maintain quality over the years.
Today is filled with gratitude, pride, and emotion.
On behalf of myself and the entire Punjab team — thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to serving you for many more years to come ❤️
And as we celebrate, we also take a moment to honour Anzac Day — remembering the courage and sacrifice of all who have served.
Lest we forget.
