Back at the kitchen table… and we’re already creating new Buya Subi Gems from the beautiful cloth we brought home from Palu. 🤎

Emma has spent the afternoon making these, and her biggest problem? She didn’t want to cut the fabric because “it’s too pretty!” 😂

I can’t say I blame her.

Each tiny piece carries the story of the women who wove it, the conversations we shared, and the friendships we made. It feels pretty special to see that journey continue here on our kitchen table in South Australia.

And yes… the Buya Subi Gems have a new look too. 🤎

Home. 🤎

Another two planes, bad coffee and a few hours in the car… and we finally made it back to the farm.

Alvin was super happy to see us, Dolly wore herself out running halfway across the paddock for a scratch, and we tried to get a good look at Nadia’s new baby. She’s an exceptional Mumma and won’t let me get too close, so we still don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl. For now, we’ve settled on calling the little one “Palu” after our time in Indonesia. 🦙

The best thing today? A super hot shower with water pressure and seeing all our babies again.

Now it’s an early night. We’ve got something to eat, we’re curled up on the couch with a movie, and after not sleeping on the plane last night, it feels like it’s been a really long day.

Tomorrow the work begins… digesting the week and preparing for what lies ahead while all the ideas are still fresh.

It’s good to be home. 🤎

Thank you to everyone who followed along with our journey. The trip might be over, but the Buya Subi Project is only just beginning.

Welcome to the world, Palu. 🦙🤎

Our newest little cria has arrived, and we’ve named our newest arrival Palu, after the beautiful city of Palu in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.

After spending time there recently with the Buya Subi Project, it felt like the perfect way to bring a little piece of that journey back home to Quentin Park.

There’s just one small problem…

We still don’t know whether Palu is a boy or a girl! 😅

Mum, Nadia, has decided that’s information she’d rather keep to herself and keeps walking away every time we try to have a look.

So for now, we’re simply enjoying watching Palu explore the paddock, stay close to Mum, and settle into life on the farm.

Welcome to the Quentin Park family, Palu. We can’t wait to watch you grow. 🤎

One more little adventure before we headed home.

Yesterday started with the best iced caramel latte at Palu Airport before flying back to Jakarta. Emma finally ticked off a bucket list item with a visit to the Komodo Dragon Museum. Both Emma and the little ’Pacas thought it was incredible! The enclosures were so natural and thoughtfully designed, and of course seeing the Komodo Dragons was something pretty special.

We had an early dinner, curled up in our PJ’s, watched Indonesian TV and had the best night’s sleep since we’ve been here.

This morning we went back into the city for a massage before making our way to the airport. Now we’re sitting here waiting for our flight home.

We’re looking forward to seeing the farm, all our animals and getting started on the many new ideas this trip has inspired…

But we are soooooo going to miss Indonesia. 🤎

It has really been quite a week…

Busy, eye opening, surreal, exhausting, emotional, inspirational - and these are just a few of the words that first come to mind.

For the designers and the Eco Fashion Week Australia team this week was about learning and appreciating.

For the Donggala weavers and Central Sulawesi it was about trusting us to do the right thing with such an important and integral cultural treasure.

For us all it was about building connections, making new friends and mutual understanding.

We’ve all come away with a fire in our bellies and even more passion for the Buya Subi Project and what the potential could be over the next three and a half years.

Today we said “see you later” to new friends, packed and repacked, and had the conversations that can only happen when you get to the end of a week like this.

Emma’s reflection today has been on how fortunate she is to have access to education, to have family support and to be encouraged in every way.

My reflection today was more about the many people we have met, the conversations understood through language barriers, the laughter, the joy, and the (I still can’t come up with a word that can explain it!!)

I think in my whole life combined I haven’t been in as many selfies or photos as I have this week!! 😂

Thank you, Indonesia. Thank you, Donggala. This is definitely not goodbye. 🤎

☕ Stories Behind the Shelves | Story No. 1

Did you know coffee can be grown right here in Australia?

Most people are surprised when we tell them that.

The coffee we serve in our café comes from Skybury Farms coffee – Australia’s oldest commercial coffee plantation.

Nestled in Queensland’s beautiful Atherton Tablelands, Skybury has been growing, roasting and sharing Australian-grown coffee since 1987.

Now here’s the part we really love…

They’re an Australian farm, just like us.

It might be coffee instead of alpacas, but the story is remarkably similar. It’s about working with the land, producing something with care, and helping people understand where the things they enjoy every day actually begin.

Every cup of coffee has a story.

Every coffee bean started somewhere.

And once you know that story, somehow the coffee tastes just a little bit better.

That’s why we choose to serve Skybury Coffee. Not simply because it makes a great cup (although it certainly does!), but because they share something we value deeply—an appreciation for provenance, craftsmanship and the journey from paddock to product.

At Quentin Park, we believe understanding where things come from shouldn’t stop at what’s on our plate… or what’s in our cup.

This is the first story in our new Stories Behind the Shelves series, where we’ll introduce you to some of the incredible Australian makers, growers, artists and small businesses whose products you’ll discover in our Farm Shop.

🤎 PS: Next time you’re visiting the farm, leave a little extra time to wander through the Farm Shop—and perhaps enjoy a coffee while you’re here.

Stories Behind the Shelves — because every product has a story worth telling.

🦙🥥 Bubble & Squeak discovered something new today…

Fresh coconut water, straight from the coconut!

After one sip, they decided this might just be their new favourite travelling treat. (Sorry, paddock water troughs… you’ve been replaced! 🤭)

Later, they returned to Towale Village without the crowds and official ceremonies, giving them the chance to slow down and spend time with the talented weavers and their families.

They watched the young women weaving beautiful Buya Subi textiles and sat very quietly, taking it all in. We’re still waiting to see if either of them picked up any weaving skills… 🧶🦙

As the day came to an end, it was time to say “sampai jumpa” (see you again) to the beautiful beach, the warm community, and the new friends who made Towale Village such a special place to visit.

Some places stay with you long after you’ve left. 💚

It has been a very, very emotional morning.

This village showed us that the Buya Subi Festival wasn’t a one-off event. This is simply how they live, work and pass on their knowledge.

Experienced hands teaching young hands.

An older woman hugged me and simply held my hand for a few moments. Thanks, joy, understanding, respect and appreciation passed between us… and we both ended up in tears.

We sat with the weavers and spoke about the project, the support from the United Nations, and how there will no longer be a middleman taking a cut from their exceptional skill and hard work. Designers from around the world will now be able to purchase Buya Subi directly from the weavers, for what it is truly worth.

We also caught up with the wonderful cohort of young women again… all still wearing their earrings under their hijabs. 🥹💕

Some days remind you that this project has never really been about fashion. It’s about people. 🤎

🦙🎓 Bubble & Squeak had a very important day today…

They proudly accompanied their humans to the university, where they sat through the seminar and listened carefully during the Buya Subi presentation.

We think they looked quite at home in the VIP seats… although we’re not entirely convinced they understood every word! 🤭

Later in the afternoon, they headed high into the mountains.

Now, Bubble & Squeak are used to the wide, open paddocks of Quentin Park Alpacas, so standing amongst steep mountain peaks was a whole new experience. We have to admit… they were just a little nervous about how high up they were!

But once they stopped looking down, they discovered a view unlike anything they’d ever seen.

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that take you a little outside your comfort zone. 🏔️🦙💚
