L’Hotel Gitan is the Reymond family’s latest hospitality offering. Positioned in one of Prahran’s most iconic pubs, L’Hotel Gitan offers a casual dining experience that will satisfy all preferences. Reinterpreting the idea of a neighbourhood pub, the hotel has been extensively remodelled by award-winning SJB Architects, and now offers flavoursome, well-prepared food complemented with a well-equipp

ed wine list. Inspired by its art deco roots, the interiors are elegant and comfortable. Exuding a warm aesthetic with a sense of nostalgia, L’Hotel Gitan has a casual bar area with high tables and a fireplace, a warm bistro with banquette seating, an outside terrace with awnings, and an upstairs event space. At the heart of the hotel is an open kitchen where whole pigs rotate on a rotisserie, crepes are flipped and charcuterie is sliced to order. Pop in for a drink, try a freshly sliced plate of chacuterie, or tuck into a full French cuisine – it’s that simple. The specials menu changes regularly, based on seasonal ingredients and the chef’s inspiration, so you can always expect something different at L’Hotel Gitan.

This year, L’Hôtel Gitan follows the route.

Our Tour de France Wine Dinner brings the race to the table.
Course by course, region by region. From Alsace: Choucroute Garnie à l’Alsacienne. Sauerkraut, pork belly, sausage, carrots, onions, parsley. Slow, hearty. The kind of dish built to carry you through a climb, or a long dinner with good wine.

Paired, of course, with wines from the region it honours.

One night. One route. A menu that moves the way the Tour does. Mitch Docker, a long time Australian cycling legend will be in house dishing stories of life in the peloton.

This month, L’Hôtel Gitan follows the Tour de France
, culinary style.

With brandade du poisson and octopus brochette through the coast, confit duck and choucroute through the mountains, to finishing sweet with gâteau de Savoie.

Each course poured stage by stage.

Joining us at the table: Mitchell Docker, former professional cyclist, sharing stories from a life spent in the peloton.
