When we first dreamed of opening Bright Patch Café, we simply wanted to create a place where people felt welcome. A place where great coffee met genuine connection. Where children could laugh, families could relax, friends could catch up, and everyone felt like they belonged.

To be recognised by the people who matter most—our customers—is something we'll never take for granted.

When we opened our doors on 28 October 2025, we had a simple dream: to create more than just a café.

We wanted to build a place where everyone felt welcome. A place where families could connect, children could play, friends could gather, and every customer felt like they belonged.

Less than nine months later, you’ve helped us achieve something we never imagined.

💜 More than coffee. More than a café. 💜

Some of the most meaningful moments happen in the simplest ways.

A game of Spot It.
🎲 A game of Snakes & Ladders.
☕ Coffee shared over conversation.
🧁 Babyccinos with extra sprinkles.
❤️ Three generations gathered around one table.

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Ben & Kellie and their beautiful family to Bright Patch Café. Watching the laughter, the games, the conversations and the little moments shared together reminded us why we opened our doors.

Later, they left us this beautiful review…

Some days remind us that the heart of a café isn’t found in the coffee machine, the kitchen or the play space…

It’s found in the people.

Today was one of those days.

With unexpected technology and electrical challenges, changing plans and plenty of uncertainty, our team simply kept showing up—for each other and for our community.

You welcomed every customer with kindness.
You adapted when plans changed.
You stayed calm under pressure.
You worked together without hesitation.
And you reminded us exactly what Bright Patch Café is all about.

A business can have beautiful food, great coffee and a wonderful play space… but it’s the people who create the magic.

To every member of our Bright Patch family—

Thank you for your resilience.

💜🫖 A Little Wonderland Update… 🫖💜

Well… today certainly didn’t go according to the storybook.

Like many homes and businesses across our community, we experienced ongoing technology and electrical challenges that meant we had to make the difficult decision to close earlier than planned.

But before we turn the page on today…

To the 20+ wonderful customers who visited Bright Patch Café today—thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for your smiles.
Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for adapting alongside us.
And thank you for supporting a small local business, even when the day was a little more Mad Hatter than we’d planned.

Your kindness reminded us that Bright Patch Café has always been about more than coffee and food. It’s about creating a place where community comes together, supports one another, and finds joy—even when life throws a few unexpected twists our way.

To everyone else in our community who has been affected by today’s disruptions, we’re thinking of you and hope things are back to normal very soon.

💚 Today is ARFID Awareness Day. 💚

ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) is a recognised eating disorder. It is not simply “fussy eating,” poor parenting, or a behavioural choice.

For many individuals and families, eating can feel overwhelming. Sensory differences, fear of adverse consequences, low appetite, and medical experiences can all shape a person’s relationship with food.

As an Occupational Therapist, I believe every person deserves to feel safe at mealtimes.

Supporting ARFID isn’t about pressure or forcing new foods. It’s about understanding, curiosity, regulation, trust, and creating opportunities for positive experiences with food at a pace that feels safe.

I’m also grateful to have recently completed training in the Responsive Feeding Approach, developed by Rachel Zabel. This evidence-informed framework has strengthened my practice and continues to shape how I partner with families in a compassionate, respectful way.

Today, I stand with every child, young person, adult, and family navigating ARFID.

May we replace judgement with understanding.
May we replace pressure with connection.
May we celebrate every small step, because every step matters.

🐇🫖 We’re still falling down the rabbit hole… 🫖🐇

Firstly, our sincere apologies for any confusion with our previous updates. 💜

Unfortunately, our technical and power challenges have taken a little longer than expected to resolve, and it seems we’re still wandering through Wonderland looking for the right door!

As a result, Bright Patch Cafe will remain closed today, Wednesday 1st July 2026.

Our amazing team is working behind the scenes to get everything back up and running safely, and we’re aiming to reopen tomorrow, Thursday 2nd July 2026. ✨

We know this is disappointing, and we’re incredibly grateful for your patience, understanding and continued support while we navigate these unexpected challenges.

The Mad Hatter assures us the tea party isn’t cancelled… it’s just running fashionably late! ☕🎩
