As early spring comes alive, the kitchen garden has a bounty of freshly sprouted herbs & leafy greens coming through the soil.

We're also still seeing plenty of late winter root vegetables, like Jerusalem artichokes, celeriac & baby carrots, creating fantastic variety to play with in the kitchen.

This week we're loving cooking our Spring Lamb main course: Wood grilled lamb rump with salsa verde, buttered cos lettuce, smoked potato, chives, white anchovy & caperberries.

Join us in saying farewell to truffle season at Josef Chromy with a decadent degustation dedicated to showcasing Tasmanian black truffles from Mick & Mel of Stoney Oak in the Tamar Valley.

Our Head Chef Nick Raitt has created a progression of dishes specifically designed to highlight the unique truffle flavour, featuring hearty seasonal produce, local Tasmanian seafood and a generous addition of truffle to each dish.

This luxurious 5 course degustation with paired wines is priced at $140 per person with the option to upgrade to a premium selection on the evening for an additional $40 per person.

Take home packs of our 2021 Josef Chromy Pinot Noir and a Stoney Oak truffle in a custom Josef Chromy box are available for purchase on the evening priced at $120 per pack, subject to availability.

Join us at Josef Chromy on Sunday 9th July for a fabulous afternoon of fine wine, nibbles and boisterous singing to all your favourite Dolly Parton hits!

Hosted by Glee Club's Katie Pryce who will have the whole room singing along (with the help of a glass of bubbles or two) including song trivia to test your musical knowledge.

A bottle of wine will also be awarded to be best dressed Dolly Parton on the day!

In this week's King’s Birthday Honours, Josef Chromy was awarded an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) for his service to the community through tourism, development, and charitable contributions.

We are so fortunate to be the custodians of his namesake winery, Josef Chromy Wines, which is the culmination of all Chromy’s experience in Tasmania’s renowned Tamar Valley, where for decades he produced some of the most sought-after wines from Rochecombe (now Bay of Fires), Jansz, Heemskerk and Tamar Ridge. His name is truly synonymous with the Tasmanian wine industry.

Josef Chromy’s story is an incredible tale of resilience and strength in the face of extreme adversity. He fled war-torn Czechoslovakia, bound for Austria. After spending five months in a refugee camp, he immigrated to Australia and was supported by numerous charities in order to survive.

He once said: “When negatives arise, and they frequently do, search for ways to turn them into positives.”

Never one to forget his origins, Josef Chromy has always shared his success with the charities that once supported him.

Our most heartfelt congratulations to Josef Chromy on this well-deserved recognition.
