Vietnamese cuisine encompasses the foods and beverages of Vietnam and features a combination of five fundamental tastes (Vietnamese: ngũ vị) in the overall meal. Each Vietnamese dish has a distinctive flavour which reflects one or more of these elements. Common ingredients include fish sauce, shrimp paste, soy sauce, rice, fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables. Vietnamese recipes use lemongrass, ginger, mint, Vietnamese mint, long coriander, Saigon cinnamon, bird's eye chilli, lime, and Thai basil leaves. Traditional Vietnamese cooking is greatly admired for its fresh ingredients, minimal use of dairy and oil, complementary textures, and reliance on herbs and vegetables. With the balance between fresh herbs and meats and a selective use of spices to reach a fine taste, Vietnamese food is considered one of the healthiest cuisines worldwide. Little Hanoi Restaurant is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Rockingham and even in Perth. The restaurant was founded in 2015 and has served thousands of local customers as well as tourists. "IPho is in a way the test of a Vietnamese restaurant. Pho at little Hanoi was very good. All dinners in the workgroup who launched their enjoyed their food, including the vegetarians amongst us. (The tofu noodle dish was well received). The food is a little pricey for Vietnamese fare but as this is not a city location and the restaurant itself is comfortable and tastefully decorated the little extra cost is justifiable in my opinion. The staff were courteous and efficient and there is a reasonable selection of alcoholic beverages on the menu.”
