Just as good as grandma's

That's what a guest told us about Stewart's bread and butter pudding. High praise, and we're not going to argue.

Warm from the oven, soft in the middle, just enough crunch on top. Marmalade glaze and a hint of whisky - that's Stew's Scottish touch. The kind of thing winter was made for.

On now.

Some lunches you eat. Some you stay for.

Our Alpine Long Lunch is the second kind. On Sunday 26th July Stewart's taking the Seasonal Table to the Mountains. The food of the High Country and the European Alps, three courses, served over a long winter afternoon with the best of the region in your glass.

Communal tables designed for conversation | from 12pm | $85 a head. There's still room if you'd like a seat but when it's full, it's full.

A new Sunday habit for winter.

Every Sunday from now until the cold gives up, Stewart's putting one thing on to cook slowly - a roast, a braise, whatever the week calls for. Generous, unhurried, and different each Sunday. The kind of lunch that earns an afternoon nap.

First up, this Sunday: slow-roasted lamb shoulder with boulangère potatoes. Soft enough that you don’t need a knife, on potatoes that have been cooked in all the good stuff.
We cook a set amount, and when it's gone it's gone - so booking ahead is the safe move.

Come for lunch: 02 6033 2377 or pickledsisters.com.au/bookings

Sunday Slow. Every week, all winter.

This one's close to home for Stewart - the British pub food he grew up on, done the way it should be.

Our British Pub Classics Cooking Class is on Tuesday 21 July, and it's a small group by design, which means you're cooking next to Stewart, not watching from the back.

All the comfort, nostalgia and winter warmth of a proper British pub menu. Hearty, generous and unapologetically good. Think dishes like pâté en croûte, yorkshire pudding, real ale sauces and sticky toffee pudding.

Here's the thing about a good cooking class - it's not just the recipe, it's the hundred small things a good chef does without thinking. You'll pick up a few of those. And lunch is whatever you just made, with matching local wines. And quite possibly a beer or two.

$175 per person, all inclusive.
📅 Tuesday 21 July, 10am–3pm

The beef cheek has been in the red wine since this morning, and by Thursday night it'll fall apart at the sight of a fork. Exactly what you want when it starts getting dark at five.

Pasta night at Pickled Sisters. Every Thursday through winter.
$40 a head, glass of wine included.

On the menu this week:
Orecchiette + red wine braised beef cheek + mushroom ragout
Spaghetti + prawns + gremolata
Baked gnocchi + four cheese sauce + broccoli
Sweet potato + goat's cheese ravioli + chilli oil + pepitas + parmesan
Rigatoni + caramelised leek carbonara

There are starters and sides too, and something sweet if you've saved room. We rarely judge.

Book a table at pickledsisters.com.au/bookings or call 02 6033 2377.

If you've never had sardines, saffron, raisins and pine nuts on pasta together, this Thursday is the night to fix that.

Stewart's menu this week has a Sicilian streak - a little sweet, a little salty, a lot of flavour.
- spaghetti con le sarde
- gnocchi with creamy tomato + nduja
- macaroni with cauliflower, cheese + thyme pangrattato
- risoni with roasted capsicum, goat's cheese + basil
- fusilli avellinesi with chicken, tomatoes, olives + artichokes

$40 a head. Glass of wine included.
Sides, salads and sweets also available.

Book at pickledsisters.com.au/bookings or come in on the night x

Five years ago we opened the doors at 121B Main Street for the very first time. Give or take a week - we're restaurateurs, not calendar people.

20 June 2021. Right in the middle of Covid, restrictions and all the uncertainty that came with it. Not the easiest moment to open a new chapter, but then, we've never done anything the easy way.

We'd been running Pickled Sisters for seventeen years by then. We knew how to cook, how to run a floor, how to look after people. What we didn't know was how this new space would feel, whether our customers would follow us here, and whether we could truly make it ours.

You answered that pretty quickly.

Five years on, we've made it our own and it's hard to imagine being anywhere else.

Thank you for being part of it.
