This month’s theme was “seafood platter”. There were many restaurants offering very scrumptious looking seafood platters on their menu, but the choice to go to Mr Walkers in South Perth came down to “fantastic value”.

At $75 the seafood sharing platter for 2 had so much to offer. Exmouth bug tails, exquisite marinated tiger prawns, fresh oysters, salt and pepper squid and much more. It also came with bread on the side. We ordered a salad to go with the platter and the amount of food was perfect.

So much value for money, considering this would have to also be one of the best locations in Perth. Right on the river with views of the city. What more could you want?

Another successful culinary adventure. Looking forward to next month’s pick, where the theme is “Ambience”…….

Perfect Chinese cuisine. Fresh, well cooked and an extensive menu. The menu has toothfish, soft shelled crab, shark fin (not a fan) and soup dumplings to name a few.

We went to Chapels On Whatley for a late lunch yesterday.

The Singapore Chilli Prawns are their nod to the more traditional Chilli Crab. This dish is advertised as a large dish or a dish to share ($42) which is what we did. With 8 prawns and 4 mantou buns, it is probably better suited for one person. We ended up ordering 4 more buns as there was plenty of delicious sauce that still needed soaking up after we had finished the prawns. Interestingly, the dish contained large chunks of tofu which was not mentioned in the menu description. Overall it was a tasty dish and the buns were light and fresh. It’s no chilli crab though.

We ordered a couple of cocktails, an Angry Panda and a Tequila Sunrise. The Angry Panda was amazing, served with fresh ginger, strawberry and chilli…… highly recommend.

We finished up with a pot of one of their delicious teas and a couple of macarons.

The restaurant has lots of different teas for sale and lots to try in house. The high tea looked amazing and we will definitely be back to try it.

It is filled with quirky Asian ambiance and is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
