Located on the Ground Floor of Shell House in Sydney's CBD - The Menzies Bar & Bistro is our all day dining option. Paying homage to the legendary Menzies Hotel, The Menzies Bar is a true labour of love, where obsession with history, hospitality and good times are woven together to deliver a bar legitimately unique to the Sydney CBD. The Rooftop provides diners with a bird’s eye view of the building’s iconic 400-tonne clock tower, which has been lovingly restored after being suspended mid-air for several years while Shell House was excavated and rebuilt. The Shell House Bar team have delivered a line-up of snacks and drinks made for conviviality among friends - the perfect mood setters to take in fresh perspectives of the Sydney cityscape. Housed within the 400-tonne iconic clock, it is an immersive space lined in timber joinery to capture the heritage and the grandeur of the 1930’s Art Deco period, and its Italianate architecture. The room is elevated and animated by the soaring void of the clocktower above, along with the fully restored and operating clock mechanisms. This indulgent bar is a truly unique destination within Shell House, exploring the depth of classic cocktails and understanding the grand old story of Shell House. Sitting next to the Clocktower Bar, we have the heart & soul of Shell House - The Dining Room & Terrace. The Dining Room is classic in theory, yet modern and forward-thinking in practice. It is elegant and grand, but approachable at the same time. The menu created by Culinary Director Joel Bickford and Head Chef, Aaron Ward, focuses on carefully sourced produce, presenting simple, refined dishes that are infused with Australian provenance yet bear the mark of the Mediterranean way of life. Dining Room & Terrace
Our signature Melbourne Cup experience. Enjoy a premium five-course shared menu with a glass of Ruinart Brut Champagne on arrival, all from our sun-filled terrace overlooking the CBD.

Sky Bar
Celebrate above the city with roaming canapés, select beverages and panoramic skyline views. The ultimate cocktail-style Melbourne Cup party before dancing into the evening.

Clocktower Bar
Host your own private Melbourne Cup celebration in our exclusive event space, complete with a private bar, dedicated service, a large screen for the race and a tailored experience for your group.

When the race is over, the celebrations continue.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS, ‘WINTER HITS’ ARE HERE!

The people have spoken and this winter, Menzies Bar’s cult-favourite pasta series returns as “Winter Hits” starting now!

Created by Culinary Director Joel Bickford and his team, the much-loved pasta series returns with 12 weeks of handmade favourites, each one a nod to the dishes that regulars still talk about. Expect a rotating lineup of $25 pasta specials, alongside $10 wine, available daily until sold out.

This year’s lineup features the return of cult favourites including Lobster Ravioli, Crab Conchiglie, Spaghetti Vongole and Linguine Carbonara, alongside richer winter heavy-hitters like Braised Pork Maccheroni, Paccheri Genovese and Pappardelle Bolognese.

Whether it’s a quick midweek bowl at the bar or a longer dinner with friends, The Winter Hits are made for cooler nights in the CBD.

Pull up a seat and work your way through the series, one pasta at a time.

VIVID 2026 | WET, COLD + DELICIOUS

A Deep Dive Into Tuna is a not-to-be-missed Vivid experience celebrating Southern Bluefin Tuna season with a live Maguro Shoten experience and an unforgettable five-course dinner at Shell House.

The evening begins in the Clocktower Bar with a glass of Ruinart Champagne on arrival, before a visual and sensory feast as a giant Bluefin Tuna is expertly broken down by Narito Ishii in a moment of true theatre.. Hosted alongside celebrated seafood authority John Susman AO and Good Food Chef of the Year nominee Toshihiko Oe, the night offers rare insight into the sustainability, craftsmanship and extraordinary quality behind one of the ocean’s most coveted catches.

Guests will then move to the Dining Room for a five-course menu by Culinary Director Joel Bickford and Head Chef Jarrod Walsh, dedicated entirely to sustainably sourced Bluefin. Expect pristine raw expressions, refined composed dishes, and matching wines by Alex Kirkwood and Ed Fritis-Lamora.

A rare chance to witness, taste and celebrate Bluefin Tuna in its most spectacular form.
