Wow, what an amazing 2026 Wanda SLSC and Tradies Sutherland 2 Surf on Sunday!

Congratulations to the record-breaking 8,829 entrants who ran, walked or rolled the 11km from Sutherland to Wanda beach! Whether it was for fitness or fundraising, it was wonderful to see so many people of all ages and abilities participating.

A special congratulations to Luke Hince - this year’s race winner, Eloise Wellings - winner of the female Brooks Pro Sprint, gymeabaypublicschool - winners of the Tradies S2S School Teams Challenge and to Heathcote High School - winners of the Hill Heroes Challenge!

Thank you to our team Tradies crew who got up bright & early to volunteer alongside Wanda SLSC - distributing water outside Tradies Gymea, cheering on participants and helping award those beautiful shiny new medals at the finish line.

Congratulations to Wanda Surf Life Saving Club, all their volunteers and supporters and to the outstanding sutherland2surf committee on another fantastic community event! Well done! We can’t wait for next year’s Sutherland 2 Surf 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Our team headed down to Wollongong on Tuesday to spend the morning with Escabags - Escape Bags – packing 160 emergency escape bags for survivors of domestic abuse.

Packing each bag with items such toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, emergency alarms, sim cards and more reminded us of the desperate situation many victims are in when they leave an abusive relationship – often having nothing but the clothes on their back.

The bags we packed will be distributed to stockists all over Australia - regular businesses who understand the horrific statistics around domestic abuse and kindly keep bags available for anyone who needs them.
There are a number of stockists in our local community including endota spa and our Tradies venues will also have them available in the coming weeks.

A huge thank you to Escabags Founder and CEO Stacy and Charity Program Assistant Sue for welcoming us so warmly and the for the amazing work you do spreading awareness of domestic abuse and supporting survivors.

Sessions are 10:30-11:30am or 12-1pm and include your child's choice of painting (selections pictured), a drink to sip on while they paint and a free kids meal in Folk (to be used the same day) 🎨

This is a great activity for primary school aged kids, particularly from Years 3-6. Children in Kindy, Year 1 or Year 2 are welcome to book as long as they have a Parent or Guardian with them throughout.

This week (July 5-12) is NAIDOC Week! An annual celebration where our nation proudly recognises the strength, vision and legacy of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year's theme 'Fifty Years of Deadly' marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the people who built the NAIDOC movement. The Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year. It’s also about the future. The next 50 years. The young ones growing up proud. The return of language. The return to Country. The fight for justice continuing with new tools, new voices, and the same fire.

About this year's NAIDOC Week poster: Paralpi by Zaachariaha Fielding. Zaachariaha is a proud Yankunytjatjara man from the APY Lands in South Australia and is widely recognised as one of the country’s leading contemporary First Nations artists and musicians. In describing his NAIDOC poster, he says “Paralpi is about movement - movement through generations, through memory, through song and story. It speaks to the strength our people carry and the beauty of culture continuing to evolve while staying deeply connected to who we are.”

This month's Sutherland Acoustic Concert is an extra special one with the 'Wheeze & Suck Band' back for the first time in nearly 10 years!
