🌏 Refugee Week 2026

This year's Refugee Week theme, "A Million Stories," celebrates all the contributions of people from refugee backgrounds who help shape our communities.

At Yirranma Place, we're proud to be home to organisations creating pathways to belonging and inclusion, including Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia, whose work supports communities to welcome refugees and help them build new lives in Australia.

This week, we'll be taking a moment to listen, learn and reflect on the stories that connect us.

🖤💛❤️ This NAIDOC Week (5-12 July), Yirranma Place invites our community to celebrate 50 Years of Deadly.

Throughout the week, Blue Gum Hall will transform into a space to pause, learn and connect. Drop in to enjoy complimentary Indigi Earth teas and wattleseed cookies, explore stories from the past 50 years of NAIDOC Week through our Podcast Listening Bay, and immerse yourself in playlists celebrating First Nations artists.

We'll also be hosting a special NAIDOC-themed Two Good Tuesday lunch on 7 July, complete with a formal Welcome to Country and a menu designed to bring people together through food and conversation.

Don't forget to also check out the cafe specials, as they will be running some inspired items throughout the week.

Whether you're joining us for lunch or simply stopping by for a cup of tea and a moment of reflection, we'd love to welcome you.

🍪 National Biscuit Day is this Friday, and we think that's worth celebrating!

From Tuesday to Friday this week, the café at Yirranma Place will be serving a rotating selection of extra special biscuits alongside your morning coffee or afternoon pick-me-up.

Biscuits are $8.50, or enjoy one with a coffee for $10 ☕️

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums and mother figures in our community 💐

We hope Sunday brings a chance to slow down, feel appreciated, and spend time with the people who matter most.

While we’re closed on Sundays, we love seeing our space used to celebrate these moments in the lead-up - or even after the day has passed. Whether it’s a quiet coffee, a shared slice of cake (like these), or simply time together, those small moments can be just as meaningful.

If you’re popping by today or tomorrow, we’re serving these cakes by the slice: Honey Layer, Orange Crêpe, Vegan Strawberry, and Lemon Meringue. Perfect for an early Mother’s Day treat or a slow morning catch-up.

Yirranma Place is delighted to present a special lunchtime organ recital featuring internationally acclaimed organist Colin Andrews on Friday, 15 May 2026, 12:00–1:00pm.

This recital marks the debut of Yirranma Place’s newly restored Grand Heritage organ - a sound not to be missed!

Admission is free, but tickets are limited.

Youth Week at Yirranma Place recap 🙌

At Yirranma Place, we’re proud to be part of a community that backs its young people.

During Youth Week (16–26 April), we welcomed local young people into our space to create connection, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

Throughout the week, young people dropped in to enjoy a free hot beverage and snack, take part in a “postcard to your future self” reflection, and add their voice to a shared “Dream. Dare. Do.” wall - now filled with uplifting messages.

We also hosted free art tours in Blue Gum Hall, shining a spotlight on contemporary First Nations women artists and the incredible three-metre-high gates crafted by Badger Bates in collaboration with Matt Mewburn of Eveleigh Works.

Alongside this, our Yirranma Place tenants came together to pack Kindness Kits for young people, which will be donated to Twenty10, our 2025/26 charity partner.

It was a joy to see the space come alive with curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Yirranma Place will be closed on the ANZAC Day public holiday (Monday 27 April).

Our friends at Two Good Café will reopen and be back to their usual hours from 7:00am on Tuesday 28 April ☕
