Café Staff Supervisor – The Other Bird (Sunrise Way)
Full-Time Position – Immediate Start | Toowoomba, QLD
The Other Bird, part of the Sunrise Way social enterprise family, is seeking a motivated and hands-on Café Staff Supervisor to lead our team and support our mission of creating meaningful training and employment opportunities. About the Role
As the Café Staff Supervisor, you will ensure high standards of service, food quality, and workplace culture. A key focus of this role is supporting and supervising staff who are completing a traineeship, helping them gain skills, confidence, and practical experience.
You’ll work closely with the Sunrise Way team to uphold our social enterprise values while keeping the café running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily supervision, coaching, and support to café staff and trainees.
Manage workflow during busy periods.
Maintain compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
Assist with stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination.
Lead by example, fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
Support trainees in completing tasks aligned with their training plan.
Handle cash management and basic reporting.
Contribute to continuous improvement and the overall success of the café.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings a mix of leadership, practical hospitality skills, and a passion for helping others grow.
Essential Skills & Attributes
Previous experience in café or hospitality supervision.
Minimum Certificate I in Hospitality
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to mentor, train, and support staff at various skill levels.
Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
Organisational and problem-solving abilities.
A positive attitude with a focus on teamwork and respect.
First Aid and Food Safety Supervisor certification
