From TODAY you will see clear Country of Origin Labelling for all seafood sold in Australian restaurants, cafes, and your local fish and chippy!! Hooray!
This is something we have been looking forward to for many years. As you know at Tobin Fish Tales we have always let you know where your seafood is from, including who caught it! Supporting local sustainable fisheries is the core of what we do. 'Every fish has a story...'
This new legislation means that businesses wanting to support local fisheries can do so in a fair playing field, commercial fisheries can be more clearly supported by community, and consumers have a clear and transparent choice if they choose to source local seafood. It's a win-win! 🙂🐟🐟🐟

📍 Today marks a significant milestone for Australia’s seafood industry.
From today, mandatory Country of Origin Labelling (CoOL) for seafood served in hospitality settings is officially in effect across Australia.
After more than 15 years of industry advocacy and a 12-month transition period, food service businesses are now required to identify whether the seafood they serve is Australian, Imported or Mixed (AIM).
We acknowledge and thank the Albanese Government for delivering its commitment and working collaboratively with industry throughout the implementation process.
This reform is an important step forward for transparency, giving Australians the information they need to make informed choices when dining out and supporting confidence in Australian seafood.
Thank you to everyone across the seafood industry, hospitality sector and government who played a role in achieving this long-awaited outcome.
