Dear all,
Yesterday, Café Coco was destroyed.
We are deeply grateful that no team members & guests were hurt — everyone was safely evacuated before the second explosion. Sadly, two local gas company employees were injured in the first blast. Our love and well wishes go out to them and their families, and we hope for their speedy recovery.
Team Coco is, of course, in shock & heartbroken. Everything has been lost to the blasts, fire, rumble and water damage.
A massive thank you to our neighbors and friends who rushed to our aid — helping to fight the fire, bringing equipment and offering supplies to our team. Immense gratitude also goes to the crew from Chives, the Lyford Fire Department (first on the scene), and the incredible Bahamian fire and police teams who battled the blaze for hours — at Café Coco, protecting Morley’s for Men, and Love Brand & Co.
We are overwhelmed by all the love and support we received throughout the afternoon. Our apologies to everyone who had bookings & events this week and in the near future, and to anyone we haven’t yet been able to respond to or contact personally.
To our amazing team — thank you. What a day that was.
Café Coco was never just a restaurant — it was an idea: true old-fashioned Bahamian hospitality, with a touch of French chic, incredible ingredients cooked simply with precision, care, and love, joyful energy, solid cocktails, brilliant wines, and above all, fun. Lots of fun
Café Coco will be back.
