Update: As many of you may know, we have decided against rebuilding. Insurance came through this past December. But with the pandemic, came a lot of uncertainty. The cost of building materials is up and they are not always readily available. A lot has changed in the economy and our community. We have put the land up for sale but are still exploring other options for the site. If you have any suggestions for consideration, they are welcome. Thank you for your continued support of Paddy's. I look forward to dealing with you in the future.

In the meantime, I have started a lawn care and driveway sealing business called Lawn Medic covering grass cutting, yard cleanups and driveway sealing covering Southern Shore, Mount Pearl/St. John's area. You can contact me, Reg Careen at: [email protected] or 709-227-9011.

Tomorrow marks the 2nd anniversary since we lost our beloved store. The road since then has been marked with numerous setbacks, heartaches, and untold frustration. But anyone that knows us, knows while we may be knocked down, you need not count us out. We are in the process of getting things in place to rebuild our store. So send us some positive vibes and please God we will be serving you later in 2021!!!!

Hello friends. I am starting to sound like a broken record I know, but please believe me when I tell you it has been and continues to be a slow, complicated, and trying, experience dealing with insurance. We were certainly hoping to have something well under way by now. Of course, with this pandemic rampaging the globe, we as a society find ourselves in such peculiar and unprecedented times. I don't know what that will mean for us. There is so much uncertainty for everyone now. It was one year ago this past Thursday since our fire and I cannot begin to tell you the challenges that we have faced or the hardships we have known. Uncertainty loomed large. But you know, everyone is going through something at some point along the journey aren't they? Kindness and compassion go a long way. It lifts your spirits on your darkest day and gives you hope. This year has taught me how to take one day at time, one moment at a time, which is what we all must do now. This too shall pass. Let's hope we emerge better and stronger than ever. We just wanted to reach out to you all in this time of crisis and wish you all well. Stay safe and take care of each other. Use your kindness and compassion to keep the spark of hope glowing in these dreary times.

Hi folks. It has been almost 9 months since our fire and we don't have any real progress to share with you. The past 8 months have presented us with a number of challenges both directly and indirectly as a result of the fire. We are still working with our insurance company and we hope to get some details sorted out soon. We came here with the intention of making Bay Bulls our home and be contributing members of our community...that hasn't changed. If I could share with you all one piece of advice though, it would be this: Be kind. You don't know what other people are dealing with. Since the fire, we have hit some pretty low points and sometimes it's a simple act of kindness that turns the day around. Christmas is a joyful time especially when you can share it with those you love the most. But for some, the season is a stressful, lonely, anxiety- inducing time. While food banks and happy trees are wonderful initiatives to help those in need, reaching out and making a difference can be something as simple as a smile or a kind word. We wish you all a holiday season filled with peace, happiness and love and many blessings in the coming year! Please God we will be up and running in some form in 2020!

Hi Folks. We have no details to share on rebuilding/restoring Paddy's This has been a huge blow to our family emotionally and financially being that it was our livelihood and we put so much of ourselves into it. But in the chaos and upheaval, we realized that we did not publicly thank our Firefighters. We should be proud of this wonderful group of people who are quick to respond to emergencies and carry out their duties with the utmost care and professionalism. Hats off to you all and thank you for your timely response in our moment of need and for all you do for our community!

Again, a huge thank you to everyone who offered to help in ANY way and a special thank you to Paddy and his family for their continued support.

Paddy's Convenience and Sub Shop was a staple in Bay Bulls for more than 30 years. The new owners vow it will continue on.

As many of you know, our business caught fire last night and the damage is extensive. Reggie and I are heartbroken, devastated and still reeling from the shock. We poured our hearts and souls into Paddy's/Puffin's Perch and were just getting it the way we wanted. By the Grace of God though we will find our way through it. Thank you to everyone who have, and continue to reach out to us whether in person, through text or phone calls. It's nice to know we have so many family and friends in our corner ❤

To our patrons, please God we will be serving you again in the near future. Thank you for your support.
