Chartier is a rustic, French-Canadian Restaurant that is set to open January 2016. It was partially funded via Kickstarter, backed by members of the community, friends and family. The Name
In 1895, when Beaumont was nothing more than a small French colony, Father Morin travelled to Ottawa to petition for a post office. With this petition, he presented a list of suggested names to give to the comm
unity. Beaumont was selected by Jean Royer for the town, Bellevue was later used for our elementary school, and Chartier remained unused............Until now. Food
The food is an elevated take on rustic French-Canadian favourites. Picture tourtiere better than your mamere's (sorry mamere), served with a slice of freshly baked homemade bread and a bold bourdeaux. Local duck roasted in our homegrown herbs. The food is for EVERYONE. Not frilly and pretentious, just wholesome local ingredients that taste amazing and fill your belly. No flowers on your plate. Not over stylized. Just good hearty FOOD. Drink
Good food deserves good drink, so we'll be sure you don't leave thirsty. Our wine list is extensive but not overbearing. A mix of old world varietals and local BC vineyards. Questions about wine? Does it make you nervous? Not at Chartier. We are open to educating those who aren't sure where to start as well as making good wine affordable and accessible. We source as many locally crafted brews as possible to give an alternative to mainstream national brands. A handful of unique scotches, ryes, whiskeys and other spirits will be available for those looking for something a bit stiffer - served in one of Chartier's signature muddled cocktails or customize to your liking. Look & Feel
The room will is warm and inviting, with rustic wood accents throughout and modern touches to gently remind you that you're not actually in old town Quebec City. Reclaimed wood from old barns around the town and exposed brick. It's like cozy and intimate got drunk, made passionate love, and conceived a child called Chartier. You'll find tributes to the roots of Beaumont spread throughout the room - maps, old photos, and a "family wall" acknowledging all those who helped make Chartier come to life. Service
The service will be unlike anything you've had before. Attentive, informative, friendly, efficient, and most importantly - fun. We want to welcome you through our doors as though we're welcoming you into our home. We understand that every guest experience is unique, and we challenge ourselves with providing a made to measure memory each and every time you visit. Community
We aren't looking to open a restaurant in the community, we're looking to open a restaurant FOR the community. With so many thriving and healthy farms in our area, we're excited to use as much local produce as possible - it'll taste better, cause less of an environmental impact, and will help prosper those who live and work so hard in our area. We're looking to create a meeting place that celebrates Beaumont's unique French heritage, helping to protect the identity of a town with deep cultural roots and proud beginnings. We want to contribute to the community minded nature of our schools, youth centre, library and non profit organizations by being involved in any way we can. We're here for the long run.
