We have received a few messages that people are asking for this to happen faster and we appreciate that. Our only goal here is to get it back for the community of Bentley and it has not been easy. We have invested over $370,000 cash to get to this point so trust us when we say we also want this to happen. If we could wave a magic wand and have this done tomorrow we would.

As everyone is aware we have been working hard to bring this beloved landmark back to life. We’ve invested in the land, completed the very expensive planning, overcame multiple hurdles and secured almost all necessary approvals. However, like many projects right now, we’ve hit unexpected cost increases due to rising construction and material costs that have significantly increased our investment beyond initial projections. We are currently just waiting on the geo engineering plan (B) for Superior safety codes final approval – every other aspect is complete and ready to go. Because it’s now colder, winter building compounds costs, but if someone else wants to move forward sooner, here is your chance because our only goal is to get this done for the town.

Our commitment to seeing the Monkey Top Saloon restored hasn’t changed – but we recognize that Bentley deserves to have this community hub back as soon as possible.

With that in mind, we’re opening the door for someone who may be in a position to move forward faster. If there’s an individual or group interested in purchasing the land and approved plans to accelerate this project for the community, we’d welcome that conversation to get it done for Bentley.

If not we will continue moving forward on our end, but if this opportunity interests anyone, please reach out to us. Again, we just want to get this back for everyone.

Hello 🐒 we had a little hiccup after we got our environmental done in July and we had to get the engineered plans redone to find a work around! We added a few things we heard you wanted since we had to redo it anyway!

Here is the final plans that we received today! Next step is to submit to superior safety codes and get the final ok from them to start the build.

We wanted to put every detail from what we heard from the community to make sure you love it! This isn’t a little investment for us, we have refinanced our house, sold our cabin and one of us is even selling their prized old truck to make this place as special and as great as it can be for Bentley and Central Alberta.

Fingers crossed for more beautiful weather so we can start this fall! We want it to be open as much as you do 🐒

Thank you to the town of Bentley for our development permit! We are now going to keep you very much in the loop as we progress!

The next few weeks you will see some holes being dug for the geo engineering! We should have that report back in 2-4 weeks and then we will be able to start.

As we go we will update you now that we have the green light! 🐵

Summer gave us a sneak peek and we can’t wait to get open later this fall. We just sent an email to the town letting them know we are ready to roll and start building just waiting for the final ok from the town.

The town has been great to deal with and we know everyone is anxious to see some action starting and so are we!

You will see a metal frame building go up first, them the classic saloon facade! We have designed a south facing 25’ patio and an east facing patio with garage doors to access that narrow patio. There will be a stage, VLTs and a full service kitchen. We are going for rustic and fun on the inside with a vaulted ceiling and lots of wood details inside. We are excited for the future of monkey top.

It has been one year since the Monkey Top burnt down. Since then it has switched owners to carry on the Monkey Top name. The community voted at our event and they decided they wanted a similar build to replace it.

We have applied to the town for our building permit. They are wonderful to work with and our current issue we are working through is to make sure there is adequate parking to not disturb any other wonderful business downtown.

We have engaged a builder to get the building up. As much as we want it to be built for summer to catch up on our investment so far, our goal date to be open has to be October. We will continue the traditions of sled rally's and fishing tournaments around our community as soon as we open and we can't wait to hear the rumble of motorcycles in the summer.

We hear you! We are going to allow kids during the day until 9 pm.

As much as we want it to look exactly as it did that just isn't possible. We hope you love the new Monkey Top and we will honour as many things of what you loved about the spot including live music, great food and community connection. We will also be adding a fermentation process on site to produce our own Monkey Top Rum.

You will start to see some action happening in the spring!

We have engaged a company and it looks like we are moving forward with a build in 2025. We do not have a secured date yet but once we do we will share all the plans that you can follow us along through the build and reopen.
