Welcome.
The History of Pizza D.M.C.V.
This is my first post for Pizza D.M.C.V. In case you are wondering what "D.M.C.V." means, it means, "Thank Goodness It's Friday." in French, "Dieu Merci c'est Vendredi." It is a creation of Daniel Parent and myself back in 2017. We wanted to have a pizza party for our staff at Keating Elementary and wanted to have a cool name that combined our efforts. Daniel being a French-speaking Canadian from Quebec it was decided that Pizza D.M.C.V. combined our two worlds. So Pizza D.M.C.V. was created.
We held a few barbeque pizza parties for staff members of Keating (twice), KELSET (twice) and Prospect Lake (once) Elementary schools in the Saanich School District on Vancouver Island. It was fun and we had a good time making the pizzas and hosting these events.
In April of 2019, I purchased a wood-fired pizza oven. I experimented and through some trial and error, lots of questions and YouTube watching I discovered an awesome Neopolitan dough and continue to perfect my cooking technique.
I discovered that I could move my pizza oven in the back of my truck and took it camping on my annual boys camping weekend. Then in October 2019 a strike set upon School District 63 and closed the schools down. As I walked the line in support on a Monday I thought about and talked with others about bringing my pizza oven to cook pizzas for people on the line. They were excited. So the next day I arrived and set-up my pizza oven to make pizzas for my staff at Prospect Lake Elementary. Then on Thursday my wife's staff at KELSETwanted me to make pizzas for them and then on Friday the staff at Keating Elementary (my staff for four years) were treated to pizza. It was a great way to support colleagues and fill everyone's belly at the same time.
That brings me today, Sunday, November 3rd. I decided to create this page to let people know about and to share photos of Pizza DMCV in action.
