HAPPY CANADA DAY!
Ready for a little story time? When I was just sixteen and still living in Ireland, I came to Canada for the first time on vacation. I went to all the best places a sixteen year old from 5,000 miles away would wanna go; I went all over Vancouver, Victoria, road tripping around the island, shopping in Bellingham, bear watching up the inlet, you name it. But funny enough, I randomly ended up spending Canada Day in Campbell River. The live music, the crowds, the massive firework display, and especially the mini doughnuts, were like nothing I'd seen before. That day I swore to myself and my family that I would eventually live in Campbell River. It took five years after that to make the move to Canada and a further nine years to end up in Campbell River but sixteen year old Debbie would be very proud right now.
Anywho, the point of my pointless story is that this day is very special to me because it sparked my love of Campbell River almost twenty years ago. Imagine my delight when I met a very handsome man in Victoria who told me that his entire family live in Campbell River and maybe some day we can move there too ;)
Enjoy this old picture of little me and a mountie outside Tim Hortons in Comox (you can't make this up). Ignore the terrible bangs, 2008 was a different time.
