At just 28 years old, Esther Lowden lost her husband.

She was left to raise two young children while expecting her third.

In an era when everyone told women what they should do, Esther chose a different path.

She took charge of her family’s affairs, managed her own business, and built this remarkable home.

Today, 190 years later, her story still inspires.
