Psst... Did you hear? Fringe Grounds Cafe is hosting a Volunteer Fair to kick off National Volunteer Week and help interested folks learn more about volunteering for the Edmonton Fringe Festival!

Join us Sunday, April 19 from 12PM – 4PM to celebrate community, ask questions, and get yourself a little treat (we made extra-special blueberry lemonade for ‘ya!)

PS. Starting April 19, Volunteers who have signed up for the 2026 Fringe get a free funfetti cookie and a non-alcoholic drink of your choice all week long!

Something exciting is brewing next door...

Starting tomorrow, the Fringe Theatre Arts Barns will be buzzing with Artists taking part in Launchpad: The Fringe Intensive Workshop Series at Fringe Theatre.

All week long (March 23 – 27), independent theatre-makers will be gathering in the building to sharpen their skills in playwriting, collaboration, tech, marketing, and touring. That means lots of creative energy flowing through the halls – and right past our coffee bar.

If you’re attending Launchpad, we’ll be here to fuel your day with:

☕ fresh coffee
🥐 pastries and snacks
✨ good vibes

And if you’re just popping by, it’s a great week to soak up the creative buzz in the building.

Good ideas start with good conversations... and sometimes a good latte.

ᐋᒋᒧᐃᐧᐣ âcimowin, Fringe’s Winter Storytelling Series is back March 20 - 21 in celebration of Indigenous storytelling where the word âcimowin carries the essence of story in the Cree language.

Much like a hot cup of tea, storytelling warms our spirits, and we can’t wait to welcome this special gathering to the Arts Barns!

We’ll be closed by showtime, but if you’re making a day of Old Strathcona and want a hot ‘cuppa, Fringe Grounds Cafe is open from 10AM – 3PM, Tuesday - Saturday.

Have you seen the gorgeous new murals outside our Cafe yet? We’re starstruck by local artist Emily Chu’s talent! 🎨

Our Cafe is OPEN for pre-show bar service during our Holdover Series (August 27 - 30) and will return to our regular hours (10AM - 3PM) on September 9.

As part of Fringe Theatre’s commitment to radically accessible theatre, the upcoming 2025 Holdover Series will include CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) captioning for select Holdover Series productions in the Westbury Theatre. CART captioning services will be provided by Jeffrey Weigl with WizCap Realtime Reporting, Inc. CART captioning is generously supported by Edmonton Community Foundation.

CART captioning provides real-time subtitles of dialogue and sound cues during live theatre performances, ensuring Deaf and hard-of-hearing Audiences, as well as those who benefit from text-based access, can fully engage with the performances.
