It has been a very sad time here at Barb and Ernies. This week we said goodbye to one of our best friends. Paul Sumamo of Langano Skies passed away after a brief, but courageous, battle with cancer. You may have had the opportunity to meet Paul and his wife Amsale after they retired their Whyte ave location and re-opened for a few years in the evenings at Barb and Ernies. Their love for good food and their amazing hospitality were not matched anywhere else. I will always cherish my suppers and the quiet, easy conversations with them before they opened in the evening. Paul and Thomas also became golf partners over the past two years. They were looking forward to more time on the golf course this summer; but, it was not meant to be. We are really going to miss you my friend. We are so much better for meeting you and forging a brief, but beautiful friendship. Our deepest condolences to their family, and especially to Amsale, who we will continue to love and cherish.
