Hello Instagram, it’s me Lynsae.

I know it’s been a while since we posted a nook update, and now’s the time to tell you of our next steps.

Many of you have been with us/me since early days, through pivots and pandemics and changes in the plan. I am so grateful for your support and want to share that after several relaunch attempts that have not come to fruition, I have decided to stop pursuing a new home for the nook.

For many years, I believed that finding a new space and re-opening the cafe was the right plan. I now know that it is not, and I am grateful for this clarity.

In the coming weeks I will be assessing, pricing and selling off the nook Inventory. The goal is to efficiently offload every item – including commercial grade cookware, appliances, beloved décor, and really, anything that the nook had to offer.

If there is an item that you know you must have, the time to ask is now! I’d love to make it yours. (get in our dm’s). If you want to help, I’d love your hands in person, or if you shared our sales when they go live. (stay tuned for that).

It’s been a journey, and here is what I know: You have all been an integral part of what kept this dream alive for me the last few years. I am so grateful for you, Thank you! I don’t have words for the feels.

Also: Now is not the time for me to relaunch a business. I accept that, and I am moving forwards with the hope that this sale and closing chapter will be as wonderful as every moment I shared with all of you at the cafe was. I hope to see y’all out in the wild fighting the good fight. Stay cozy out there!

We interrupt our sabbatical to bring your attention to this very important issue.

As you may or may not know there is a contentious matter going to counsel tomorrow Re: the Prairie Sky Gondola.

We have a lot of thoughts about this project and they are pretty inline with the ones outlined in this great little read printed by and written by our dear friends and Matthew Weigel .

*Nisha was Edmontons poet laureate and holds a Master of Arts in Cultural Studies from Queen's Universit, a Bachelor of Commerce from U of A - Business Economics and Law, with a minor in Political Science. As well as a Certificate in Applied Land Use Planning from the U of A and a Certificate in Leadership from U of A.

Nisha will be Starting a MFA at UBC in September

Matthew is a published author, who holds a B.Sc. (Biological Sciences), MA, PhD (in progress).

Last Sunday was one of THE hardest days of my earthly living thus far! I was beyond overwhelmed and barely making sense of the goings on. This was the day we began moving our cafe into storage. This was the day I knew was coming yet it somehow snuck up on me and left me incapacitated.

As I walked into our beloved space, two hours late, there was already many hands busy at work; strapping equipment to dollys, disconnecting power, disabling plumbing, moving boxes and stepping in where I could not. Like a beautiful orchestra.

Over the last two weeks, with the help of many humans, we packed and schelped and cleaned and cried and laughed and ate and sang and said goodbye to 10153 97street (Okîsikow way).

The community that grew out of that space over the last five years has filled me up and I am forever changed because of the nook cafe… My little dream that really did come true. 🤍

This weekend it’s Father’s Day. We know, like all holidays, this can be a time that brings up a lot of feels for folx. To that we say, celebrate yourself!

If you don’t have an amazing fatherly figure to put that love on, give it to your own self. Here’s to you for showing up for yourself! And if you’re blessed to have someone in your life who holds that farther role, give them some love, too.

For us that fatherly love goes to this guy! IYKYK that he is the most dependable, hard working, get it done, and cheer you in person to have in your corner. We would not have made it through the last five years with our him. We will certainly be gifting him one of our pretzel and Pilsner packs.

The star of our market season has definitely been the sourdough soft pretzels. Born by K of and brought into our baking line up last spring, the pretzels have been a best seller week after week.

When we moved over to we conveniently got to be market Neighbors with . What better match is there than crisp beers and soft pretzels?!

With Father’s Day just around the corner we thought why not give the people one last chance to score some pretzels and try out this heckn’ good combo?!

So here’s what we’re doing…

It is with a bittersweet feeling we announce that this weekends offerings Will be our last service for the foreseeable future. Not forever but for a while.

We have decided to take the next few months off to rest, recoup, and regroup so we can see what might come next for us. (More on this soon).

So this is your invitation to join us THIS WEEKEND to get your hands on our fresh treats, fill your freezers, and say ‘bye for now’.

Yes we will be at the this weekend. And yes we will have these glorious pistachio and rose sandwich cookies available.

Admittedly we think everyday is a good day for a cookie (or two) but the weather lately has been calling for cozy days tucking into a hot cuppa and adding a cookie is never the wrong choice.

We will have all the cookies on hand this weekend including a few lemon lavender shortbreads, our new double chocolate apricot with white chocolate, and trail mix oatmeal, too.

Sold in packs of six to get you through the week (or the day - who are we to dictate?!) with gff and vegan options there are cookies for everyone! OR grab yourself a single with a hot bevi from our pals upstairs . Whichever way you choose, come get yours this Saturday & Sunday at market. ...
