"Queen of Puddings" - bread pudding with a layer of strawberry apricot jam and golden meringue as its crown - just out of the oven. Made in honour of a very special birth announcement I received in the mail this week! Who'd like some?!

What a privilege the Tea Bag had this morning, as she attended the Byemoor School Remembrance Day service!

She got there early enough to see Gwen Milne Keith and her class putting up handmade poppies. All the students participated by singing O Canada and God Save the Queen, as well as through the recitation of poetry. The principal played a few short video clips and relayed some facts about the Great War and subsequent engagements.

The service was graced by the presence of Flight Sergeant Bill Hawkins of the Air Force Cadets, an able and dignified representative for the women and men in uniform who have ensured that Canada is a land of freedom and peace.

I was so impressed by our school! When they were told with very little notice that no member of the Legion would be able to participate this year, they came together to create a fitting service for our tight-knit community. Thank you!

The Tea Bag will be playing the piano for the Hanna Legion's Remembrance Day service on Saturday, November 11. Therefore the Tea Room will be closed until she can get back - and she'll leave right after the service. Thank you for your understanding.

Cattlemunns Ranching Gift Shop will be open from 10-6 on November 11. Treasures abound for a wide variety of tastes!

Lastly, tomorrow night is when the Christmas lights are turned on at the Gift Shop! If you're on the 855 after dark, be sure to check out the festive yard. 'Tis the season! ❄⛇🌲⛄🎄☃❄🎁

It's November 1! And with the geese overhead loudly protesting the snow swirling around us on the ground, Cattlemunns Ranching Gift Shop and the Tea Room open for the Christmas season. Come and discover for yourself the new treasures our intrepid proprietor has acquired for this season of giving! And if you have time, stop in at the Team Room for a coffee and a sweet treat.

It's true that the Lilac Room is closed for the remainder of the summer, but Cattlemunns Ranching Gift Shop is not!

It's also true that the Gift Shop's gypsy-proprietor is off on one of her adventures, scouting about for treasures old and new.

That meant she needed someone to run the Gift Shop. Sooooooooo ...

Cattlemunns and Cattlewomunns, the Tea Bag is in the house, starting from today until next Saturday, August 12! And she's already living on the edge - she snuck over to filch her favourite Rhonda mug AND she's drinking condensed milk in her coffee!

Not only that, it seems fitting that all garden decor be marked down 20%. Rhonda needs room for new merch, right?! Those pieces you've had your eye on? Now's your chance!

This will be the last weekend of summer for the beautiful little Lilac Room. We will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10-5. Reservations are strongly suggested as we are heavily booked already. We will be serving Butter Chicken Curry on Saturday ...

More details to come. Rest assured that Cattlemunns Ranching Gift Shop is not closing in any way, except for the regular closure after Labour Day. And - by hook or by crook, as the old saying goes - we are working to have the Lilac Room open again for November and December, just in time for your Christmas shopping!

The Lilac Room is open this week Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10 - 5. Please note that on Friday the Tea Bag has to attend yet another sad funeral; so that day we will be serving only drinks and desserts.
