While the snow might be deep today, we are dreaming of golden sunsets and the incredible flavors of the Saskatchewan soil. We are thrilled to announce that the Food Soulmates, Chef Josh Miller and Chef Gayla Gilbertson, are returning to the valley for our Supper in the Orchard series this year!

This duo brings a revelation of prairie cooking to our tables. Josh Miller, our beloved Bearded Prairie Chef and MasterChef Canada finalist, pairs his scientific curiosity for local ingredients with a deep love for the stories told around a dinner table. Joining him is Gayla Gilbertson of The Happy Nun Cafe, who specializes in Grandma's cooking with a twist, elevated comfort food that honors her roots on the family farm.

Together, they take simple Saskatchewan flavors and push the boundaries of what you expect from a prairie harvest.

Back in the kitchen at this past weekend cooking with my buddy !!! We always have sooooo much fun in the kitchen!
This menu was inspired by everything fall 🍁 and Saskatchewan 🌾 and we hoped everyone enjoyed!!

This gift from the Bearded Prairie Chef and Made_by_jon means more than I can ever explain…… the frustration and tears that have been had trying to find a replacement for this knife…..and then there it was…. A surprise gift from a dear friend 💗💗 It’s beautiful and feels just like it should….. for all those that understand….this is “the knife”

On the road this weekend as we had off to our last Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards as nominees! The Cafe is up for the 2022 Venue of the Year and our smiling bartender, Leon, is nominated for Country Person of the Year!

I’ve been trying to get the words together to explain how much the evening of our Nun Celebration 🍾 meant….. and I’m sure I am still going to fail.

The community and friendship in the room that evening was beyond….. so many times I heard people say “It feels like the The Happy Nun Cafe” and they were right!

It felt like the Nun because everyone was sharing community, friendship and love over great food with fantastic entertainment……a feeling we hope to be able to inspire again down the road.

To the countless volunteers, friends and family that all pitched in to make this happen I will never be able to repay you. I may miss some people in the tags but if you were there we Love You….. and if you couldn’t make it and just wished you could ….. we love you too!!

September just got a lot more fun 🤩! Thanks to all you wonderful peeps for supporting the Bearded Prairie Chef and myself and selling out all 3 of our June dates at Over the Hill Orchards!!!

This just in we will be going back to the Orchard September 15 & 16!!! This is the time book those tickets and come hang with us before summer ends at one of the most picturesque venues in Saskatchewan!!

We have partnered with local chefs to hold suppers here in the orchard! Season begins May 5th until October 16th; seating is limited!
