OK… I think we need to talk about something.

Somewhere along the way, The Manic Maker became known as Bridgeburg's Cozy Corner Café.

And don't get me wrong… I LOVE that.

The coffee. The food. The patio. The ice cream. The cozy little corner we've created here on Jarvis Street.

But I think some of you may have forgotten how this whole crazy Manic Maker thing really got going…

THE FREEZE DRYER.

Guys… we are a FULL freeze-dried candy shop.

Like, I have a whole freeze-drying kitchen downstairs.

I'm not ordering this stuff in and putting our name on the bag. We make it. We freeze dry it. We package it. Right here at The Manic Maker.

And somehow we've ended up with **OVER 150 freeze-dried treats.**

Candy. Fruit. Cheesecake. Marshmallows. Pickles. Chocolate. FRU Chips. Stuffed FRU. Loaded Chaos Popcorn. J-ello.

And that's just me trying to keep the list short.

If you've ever wondered, “Can you freeze dry that?”

There's a pretty good chance I've wondered the exact same thing.

Our NEW website finally brings ALL of The Manic Maker together in one place.

The café. The food. The coffee.

And the slightly ridiculous amount of freeze-dried stuff I make downstairs.

We ship across Canada and we offer local delivery. And YES… you can order freeze-dried treats for local delivery too.

So yes, we're Bridgeburg's Cozy Corner Café.

We're also a locally handmade item shop

And apparently… I don't know when to stop making things.

We love our local community.

For almost four years, you've supported us on Jarvis Street, from 102 Jarvis to our home at 26 Jarvis Street. We love what you've helped us build.

We see the comments trashing Bridgeburg. It breaks my heart. So let me tell you what I know as a business owner here.

We've watched amazing small businesses open, pour everything into their dreams and sadly close a year or two later. Some became our friends. We miss them.

We've been part of the BIA and, say what you want, I've never met a more devoted group of people trying to make Bridgeburg better. Was the renovation perfect? No. But we have beautiful trees and flowers, renovated storefronts, community cleanups and thousands of hours spent planning events.

I don't often share the hard side of owning a small-town café, but we work our butts off. In this economy, most months are a struggle.

Is it worth it? I believe it is.

Jarvis Street has Art, food, coffee, hair and spa services, and even an actual Spa shop. lot's of yoga, Pilates, wellness, gifts, art, vintage, thrift, clothing, a party shop, a tailor, a bookstore, furniture, appliances a cycle & sports shop, Jewellery & currency exchange, and an amazing mechanic all by the river.

There is SO MUCH here.

But we need our community to choose local.

We're not corporations. We're your neighbours. Jon and I live just a couple of blocks from our shop.

Next time you need something, ask yourself:

Can I get it in Bridgeburg?

You might be surprised how often the answer is YES.

Imagine the businesses that would come here if they saw a thriving, busy street. Small businesses can't create that alone. The BIA can't do it alone. A renovation can't do it alone.

Our community has to help.

This kind of thing is what we live for!
