To our friends, family and community,
It is with sad news that we are posting today, the temporary closure of The Shortcut now appears to be permanent. Due to the location on farm land and a lack of clarity in the bylaws with the SCRD, I am no longer able to operate. While there are some far off possibilities, for now The Shortcut is done. While seeing this little food truck close is a hard blow to take, I want to take this last chance to focus on the positive.
The Shortcut started when my life, like everyone's, was upended by the pandemic but before I even knew it I found myself surrounded by people who were supportive and gave freely of themselves. It was this community spirit and coming together that made the Shortcut possible and sustained it for 4 years. The symbolism of sharing food is something that was never lost on me and it was truly my honor to have a chance to serve all of you. While it was not always a smooth road getting my first business up and running, the highs certainly obliterate the lows, even now.
I would like to end with one last request from all of you: don't be cynical. There will always be reasons for fear and hate, but The Shortcut has proven to me that when you find your community and put your heart into making things better, you will often find many hands joining in and pulling together.
I want to specifically thank Robin and Jordan from the Gibsons Farm who have been my champions from the beginning, I cannot in words express what this has meant to me.
